Looking at it rn, obviously we don’t expect to win any of those although OK’s offense hasn’t been great even though that QB has been pretty good outside of yesterday. But those other 3 keep looking better. Ole Miss didn’t look good yesterday but every year Ole Miss has that inexplicable loss and they may have avoided it this season- don’t know the rest of their schedule. But I still default to it’s college football and SC is prone to putting off a crazy upset.

But to make it worse, I don’t think Clemson loses another regular season game. The tendency here will be to dismiss their last two wins due to opponents, it doesn’t matter but that will be the argument. I thought that would be the case coming out of their by week. We’ve seen similar from Dabo before.

So even with an upset not much changes re the final record. For weeks many of us been saying 4-8/5-7. Still looking that way.

Yes. And Beamers win loss record will be very similar to Muschamp by season end. Let that sink in. Muschamp 2.0. And if we got a new coach next year the excuse would be Beamer left him no talent. This cycle here is consistent

I’ve never bought the talent excuse. Historically, when you look at recruiting rankings we aren’t SEC upper half most the time but usually around top 25 nationally. Practically always do better in that dept than Missouri, UK, & Ole Miss (until recently re OM). Yet Mizzou & OM surpass SC on the field and not all that long ago UK was too.

And then you look at it going all the way back to Brad Scott, the new coach has a good to decent first season with the previous coach’s players. Holtz being the exception because he really did lack talent.

Now, with the portal the talent really may leave but that is a risk with or without coaching changes every season.

Like I said in earlier thread, should have held onto Muschamp if the goal is missing bowl games and an occasional mediocre season that we can gloat about.

If we hold out hope of going to a bowl (avoiding a losing season) we absolutely need one of these 4. (And coastal and clemson)

Which of the four looks weakest? Imo, its OU, with a struggling offense.

It is absolutely true and unassailably factual, that South Carolina will never ever ever have consistent winning seasons in the SEC. We are swimming in an ocean with rich *** megalodons, and we’re a tiny little guppy trying to bottom feed portal talent. Yes yes, every now and then this guppy will puff up and convince prey that we’re a up and coming and then the smoke and mirrors will break, and we’ll be swimming for our lives again. Best we can do is suckle that SEC money for the betterment of the campus and university, but we are NOT ever going to be consistently great.
