Yeah, maybe a with-shoes measurementIt looks like a few players got an inch or so added. No where did I see NDiaye listed at 7 ft. or Mom listed at 6’9”.
I’m not sure I’d trust those numbers. There’s an odd pattern I’ve noticed from watching UK basketball for decades: for some reason, UK has always tended to list players bigger than they are elsewhere. Our transfers have long seemed to magically gain an inch when they move to Lexington, and then everyone suddenly loses some height when they leave UK and take part in a pro combine.- Moreno
Our starters could potentially run:
6’6 Diallo
6’6 Wilkins
6’9 MM
7’0 N’Diaye
7’0 Moreno

Color me a bit skeptical of these measurements… especially Diallo. However, we still have a very long team.

That screams matchup zone some to me. Or even trap zone to create stress on the opponents out front and funnel them inside the line. Create some turnovers and transition too- Moreno

The Harrison twins were both ;listed at 6'6" and they played together ...Does it matter if Zoom/Wilkins are 6'5" or 6'6"? Not really. Ron Harper showed up 30 years ago what you can do with a 6'5" perimeter defender, and we'll have two of them.
NCAA outlawed the hand checking because of Pitinos press. Hopefully Pope comes up with some kind of matchup zoneThat screams matchup zone some to me. Or even trap zone to create stress on the opponents out front and funnel them inside the line. Create some turnovers and transition too
Zoom and Wilkins have neither one been good defenders in their prior stints. We need them to be — good test for Pope’s staff on the defensive end.Does it matter if Zoom/Wilkins are 6'5" or 6'6"? I have wondered if Mark avoided the summer games to focus on a zone defense with this length and he does not want to unveil it until the season. Probably not, but …Pope does need to have a 1-3-1 and a 2-3 package ready. I like the touch where we give a zone look but move to man after the first or second pass.
Can that be put on our sideline? Our strength is our length, inspiring- Moreno
