Our walking contradiction of a head coach...

"I'm not worried about what's happening four years from now. I'm going to let somebody else worry about that if that needs to be."
So much for not going for the quick fix and building a solid foundation.

Another great contradiction, remember back when we had Norwood and Croom was clammering for "big bruising back" to properly run his offense? Am I dreaming that? Now all he talks about is lack of speed.

we have to give him more time, this was an impossible situation....no coach could have accomplished what he has been able to do in just 5 short years

Croom has accomplished essentially what he was hired to do. He has brought about a good public image of MSU and recruited some solid, not great, players. He has built a good base for the next coach to work with. I think all of us, way deep down, knew he couldn't really coach halfway through 2004. I think we all just wished he'd do the motivating (because he was a good speaker) and let his assistants do the coaching.

Only problem is, because of LT, Croom has overstayed his welcome. This project should have only taken 3 years, maybe 4. Instead of a raise, Croom should have gone back to the NFL last year. Hindsight is 20/20.

I haven't been very impressed by much that he has said after the Maroon is the only color quote. I've been to a few alumni events he has spoken at and they have been okay, but nothing short of typical coach speak, with a solid B for grammar.

that being his "character" and candor has been exposed as coachspeak.

When I got down on Croom in the past, I still couldn't help but like the guy. I liked what he had to say, I liked that he was blunt. I thought he handled the press well and imagined that he was a pretty damn good motivator in the locker room. The things that have come out of his mouth over the last few months have turned the tide. I cannot support him and whats more - I don't like him. When you start making decisions that jeopardize the future of the program, regardless of how detrimental the decision becomes, you have lost me as a supporter.

Croom may be a great guy but his plan simply failed and he did not have the moxie to make adjustments on the fly.

Saban, Meyer, Richt, Mack Brown, etc. Croom has ZERO confidence in his own abilities. None. He publicly questions himself and seeks validation from any and everyone. The players are responding to this vacuum of leadership as you'd expect.

I think people feel sorry for us at this point, & we are laughable. Croom has been treated w/ kid's gloves in the media for the most part, & even that is coming to an end.

has he recruited solid players, maybe a few, but he sure as hell hasn't coached them up.

& as far as a good public image, at this point, I would rather be hated, like back in the good old days. Our little stadium had an attitude back in the '90's, I want that attitude back, a hard nosed coach, national night game exposure, thursday night games, rowdy fan base, & the mantra of 'you may not think 'lil 'ol MSU is supposed to be here, but we do.'

As stupid as this is to say, I hope when Croom is gone, we burn those uniforms, & of course, recycle the plastic in the helmets by chipping them, & go back to something reminiscent of the 90's

He's been asked about his offense and what can be done to improve. He will be challenged at the end of the season and he can do 1 of 2 things, make wholesale changes with his staff and commit to a "better" offense or stay the course and work on his "buyout". It's pretty obvious what he is saying and why, plus he has had a visit from his boss and it didn't go to well for him.

especially the uniforms. Yes we are a joke now. That's why I wish Croom would have left after 2006 or so. Ah the hell with it he just sucks.

He said, simply: "That's idiotic." Also said that it was unheard of to burn a redshirt 8 games into the season, unless MASS injuries forced you to do so.

while he is the coarch......when a real coarch is hired (eventually) that will change, and the uniforms will be just a forgotten memory...like Croom. As we know, he wasn't hired to win to begin with, and we pretty much got what we bargained for. The biggest mistake was the extension and major salary increase.

Our punishment for trying to be good in the SEC & having a great man, Dr. Z, hire a man that the NCAA apparently refuses to allow to be a coach (& In no way am I condoning his return).

The biggest mistake was the extension and major salary increase.
Truer words have never been spoken

Not that this has anything to do w/ anything, but I really did not like Urban Meyer (sp?), but the more I watch them play, & here about the emphasis he places on special teams, the more I want a coach that follows his principles. I keep thinking Meyer will be the modern day version of Jackie Sherrill, from a hated by other teams standpoint.
