My outfield question is "what is going on with Nolan Stevens?". Nolan is our best defensive right fielder.
Highfill is just a disaster right now. His strike % per at bat has to be Hunter Hines level, constant passed balls & cannot throw out baserunners when catching, and him getting picked off at first probably prevented a big inning offensively. The game always manages to find players that are in a funk like Ross is currently. I have not accepted yet the fact that he may just not be very good.
I have. He’s just not a good enough catcher to play here, doesn’t have a RF arm, too many bonehead mistakes, his bat hasn’t shown up after coming back. He’s just not good enough for State Baseball. But he is fast and athletic.
I have one question, when he got hit at bat Friday he had protective gear on his foot and shin, his arm and elbow, and had two gloves on, then he comes up last night with no protective gear on, no gloves, and doesn’t get hit. Does he know when he’s gonna get hit? I just noticed it this weekend. Why wear protective gear on arm, leg and foot one at bat, but not the next?
