Every one of our players is now shooting less than 40% on the season. To put how unreal this number is in perspective, two years ago, we had just TWO players shoot under 40%-- Brown and Ash,

It’s weird, because there’s more talent on this roster than at any time in Northwestern history.

What’s weird too is that Law, Taylor, Turner, Kopp, Greer, Nance were all considered pretty good to very good shooters coming in. Only Gaines was really supposed to be a shooting liability but in some ways he’s been our best player including clutch FTs.

I'm not a real BB expert but isn't this primarily a result of not having a single point guard who sets guys up for shots in rhythm? The game is so fast. seems to me that the catch and shoot process has to be extremely consistent.

It's an amazing stat. Guys haven't shot their average....some times there's a guy or two....but the entire team!

Hmmm, could that be because more often than not there’s no rhythm to the offense, forcing guys who are used to catch-and-shoot to try to create off the dribble and take a contested jump shot?

Or, maybe it’s because no one except Gaines seems capable — or willing — to try for a layup?

Yes it would be helpful to “make shots” but there are underlying issues.

Explains it partly, but not entirely, We are clearly missing more wide-open looks than in prior years, no question about it.

More talent than when they had Juice, John Shurna, Kevin Coble, Craig Moore? Better than Kevin Rankin, Pat Baldwin, Todd Leslie, Cedric Neloms, Kip Kirkpatrick, Dion Lee? Gimme a break. I'd take the talent of either of those teams over this one. Is this based off recruiting rankings rather than how they actually performed on the court? Or because of the outstanding talent currently on the bench? You know, that depth we see on full display every game? I love the recruiting rankings jive. Yes, let's compare recruiting rankings when most of the current recruiting services weren't even around 10-15 years ago and let's compare rankings of players based off the impressions of different scouts even on the existing services. Seems sound.

NU has always had weak benches loaded with guys who are not Big Ten level players, and nothing is different now. Kopp and Nance are decent prospects. Beyond that? Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

The backcourt has the least talent and is the weakest I've seen since O'Neill's last couple seasons.
