Said all Limbaugh has ever done is spew words. All he does is talk.

Then said the people that speak out against Limbaugh, defend people that torture animals(Vick), assault and even kill people(Dontae Stallworth, OJ Simpson, Rae Carruth).

The NFL has had 500 arrests since 2000- yet they dare speak out on Rush owning a team?

A black caller then called in and spoke about how a young black youngster had shot and killed 4 other black youngsters in his city. Stated there was no public outcry, no Jesse or Al Sharpton sighting. Said he was just amazed how people want to complain about Limbaugh, but murder and assault are tolerated.

like it or not, I think Rush is screwed on this. Godell has already said he is against it and Jim Irsay has already publicly stated that he will not vote in favor of letting him be the owner.

What do you think would be the reaction if Obama (perhaps after out of office) was part of some group that wanted to purchase a professional sports team. It would be lauded as a great and wonderful thing. And he's just as liberal politically as Rush is conservative even though granted Obama is not in the entertainment business. But heck, I doubt there would even be backlash if Al Franken wanted to own a franchise and that guy is a senator now who has said more outlandish things than Rush has ever said (and also use to have a radio show). This political correctness today is gotten to the point of sickening and creates a huge double standard. Rush hasn't harmed anyone or broken any laws. If he has the money and wants to be part of owning a franchise then he should have that right unless the current owner just simply doesn't want to sell to him.

Its NBA not NFL, but same principal applies. He is pretty liberal, but NEVER do you hear about how he should do this and that.

Rush is getting exactly what he wants. Everybody in the damn country is talking about him. Does anyone seriously think that he went into this actually expecting to one day cut a check for the Rams.

And I agree with very little Rush has to say, but if he wants to be part of an NFL franchise, go right ahead. He's made his money being divisive and controversial, and this fallout comes with that territory. If a less vitriolic public conservative figure wanted to buy a team, you wouldn't hear all this fuss about it. Plus, I guarantee you Dan Snyder and several other owners would probably say some crazy things if you put a mike in front of him and let him go long enough.

Obama is the President of the United States. That carries quite a bit more weight in social circles than the "Golden EIB Microphone". Obama is also a moderate in words. Sure, he's done some things that the right doesn't like and the religious right freaking hates him but you have never heard him say something that was outright controversial (on purpose). Before we hop on the "Rush only talks" let's not forget that he was a drug addict. That has to give the NFL some pause especially when putting him in the spotlight as a team owner. I gotta be honest with you, I used to listen to Rush a lot back when the Republican party stood for something and wasn't the *** clown of the Neo-conservative movement, and I can tell you that ever since the whole drug thing he just hasn't been the same.

He used to be funny and a bit biting but he always brought it around to a point. It was about some core belief in all Americans or some biting truth that maybe people didn't want to hear. Now, he's just a *******. He parrots the talking points with a mean tinge to it going after people to help push an agenda rather than to highlight some truth we had been forgetting. As my brother says, "Rush has become a caricature of himself."

The NFL wants to put asses in the seats and eyes on the TV. They don't give a rats *** about anything but money. Rush, love him or hate him, is controversial and there are people, lot's of people, who wouldn't go to the games or watch the Rams with him as the owner. While I don't see Obama in the same light I do see Hillary Clinton that way and I bet the NFL would balk at her owning a team just as much.

Edit to Add: on a personal note it doesn't bother me at all. If he has the cash let him be the owner. I'm just speculating on why the NFL would have a problem with it.
