The prevailing thought seems to be that the ball park is not fair. Evidently not playing in a little league field is robbing fans of the home run. I didn't think the field was that large. 335 down the lines and 375 alleys seems pretty typical. I will say that 408 to center is a shot but not unfair.

That being said I am thinking I would rather see Indiana next too. They are a power team while Louisville is more of a speed team that could be but for that park.

Yea I saw them bitching about the park size over there. I would be pissed too if it happened to us, but more about the loss than the park. Hell, it's not like they just found out what size the park was.

It may take something like this, like MSU benefitting from a bigger park for them to change baseball again. Let that **** happen to LSU and they will move the 17ing fences in in the middle of the damn CWS.

What are they saying about their LF, Conforto? I know nothing of the Ducks team, but to me, in this game, he looks like we'll see him in The Show. Has he been that good all year, or did we pitch him wrongly? I know at least once he had two strikes and we failed to waste a pitch.

He's a beast, and has been a beast all year for them. I'm sure the Nike guy is anxious to sign a fellow duck to a nice shoe deal*

Not saying much. Just that the mean old park cost him a hr. Their other big topic of conversation is that they can still come back and win the bracket.

We just need to win Monday and then sit back and watch the other two teams eat up their pitching just to get back to us and have to win twice.

I just read an article on the Oregonian newspaper website that said that the Beavers were foiled by a sudden gust of wind that robbed them of a homerun.

Do you mean the Beaver board?...

because I don't know why the Quack attack board would be crying for Oregon State. And to the point its sort of ironic because the reason I was worried when it left the bat was that it WAS hit to a part of the park where it could have left the yard as it was to the right of even Right CF which is not much further than most baseball parks. If it had been hit more toward center I would have felt we had a good chance to run it down.

How is a ball park not fair? Ever? The analysts sucked their D's the whole time talking about how all 25,000 were in support and how they broke every single school record for attendance for their super regional..............

.... they maybe had 3,000 per game. Every team is awarded EVERY single bit of information about the park the second they make it. Homeruns shouldn't be the deciding factor of winning games. That's not baseball. Pitching, fielding, and strategy are baseball... homeruns are a bonus. Fields not being fair because they don't allow homeruns is the most Nike ******** I've ever heard in my life.

Their coach announced his retirement last season but was convinced by his players to come back. That guy doesn't give a damn about coaching. Blame him or yourself for coming and playing for a guy who wants to retire for why you lost a game in the CWS. That guy was even more pessimistic than MSU fans in his 6th inning interview.

Are they now insisting that the CWS be moved to an indoor stadium??

That dude CRUNCHED three pitches that were waaay outside the zone. I hope we don't have to pitch to him again.

I believe Conforto was the PAC-12 player of the year.

Good lord, somebody needs to administer some Vagisil over there. I can't remember a game where a team had more bloop hits, apparently they are unaware that a shorter porch leads to more of those being caught. More of their bloop hits being caught equals less baserunners equals less runs being scored. They had so many that the home run may not have even mattered. Can't have it both ways, you got beat straight up, at least own it like a 17'n adult

Speaking of the TV guys

I think they mentioned on at least two occasions that we aren't good at getting strikeouts as a team. I'm pretty sure our pitching staff is in the top 10 for strikeouts per 9 innings. Didn't we lead the ******* SEC? You'd think if you're gonna be throwing out random tidbits of information that you'd want to be just a little accurate.

I heard it wasn't the bats, but the baseballs....

Just go to wooden bats already and end this **** for good

The baseballs aren't wound as tightly for College as they are for the Major Leagues. Before you bust the budgets of colleges for going to wooden bats, they might want to try using Major League baseballs first.

In today's era, pitching, defense and timely hitting will win in Omaha. Our ballpark is tailor made for the CWS, which Cohen has built his program around.

If they ever switch to wooden bats

I'm moving to Baton Rouge and starting Jakldawg's Cash Only House of Wine Corks and Superballs (home of the free lathe and drill rental with every purchase).

I honestly don't see how a ballpark can be unfair to anyone. Both teams play on the same field and have the exact same advantages/disadvantages. If you don't like how your team matches up in TD Ameritrade, maybe you should recruit players who fit well in a big yard.

BTW, who are these morons saying we were "lucky to win" yesterday? I've never seen a team get so many GD texas league singles in my life, and that was while we were lining balls all over the yard on pizza face but they were right at people. We also had a throwing error in the first inning that costed us two runs, and the only reason OSU was threatening in the 8th in the first place was because the 1st base ump blew a call by saying Wes Rea was off the bag... Even the announcers said that was a blown call. Baseball is a game where either team after a game can say: "Well if this or that had happened, we would have won/blown them out," and we sure as hell had our chances to blow them out. Both teams had good and bad breaks and chances to win the game, but we just took advantage of our opportunities and won. If their team/fans don't like it, maybe they should make the damn winning play next time.

Dude. That's Bleacher Report, the History Channel of sports. All they need is Giorgio Tsukalos to write for them.

Bleacher Report is responsible for these wins, guys

The BR finds a way to consistently take jabs at State all this year in baseball. Hell, in their regional preview they picked Mercer to advance (first team out, as you may recall). Then we had no business being in the same ball-park as Virginia. Earlier this week, we were picked as 1 of 3 teams likely to go 2 and out. And to make it better, the bleacher's prediction for tomorrow's game is Indiana 6, State 1.

That site is clearly ran by a State fan with MAD respect for the dead injuns

What makes the excuses even dumber comes from the pregame press conferences. Someone asked the coaches about the new bats and/or? big ballpark, and Cohen noted that when Oregon State won their championships in Rosenblatt, they used good hitting and speed on the bases to avoid dependence on the dramatic home runs to win things. He referred to it as "west coast" baseball and said it gave teams like that an edge with the new bats. At the end of yesterdays game, if OSU rips one down the third base line, they probably win. If they drop one in shallow center, they at least tie it up. If they didn't try to embrace their inner Warren Morris and crank one out, then we'd be our normal miserable selves today. Blaming the stadium dimensions is a massive cop out.

for a fanbase that gets ******** over being called the mississippi state rebels all the time, you'd think we'd be sensitive to the difference between oregon ducks and oregon st beavers.

Or, you could be sensitive to sarcasm. But that would require conscious effort on your part.

How about poor Creighton University? Those guys actually are forced to use TD Ameritrade as their home park for their entire baseball season. I mean how unfair can it possibly get for any one school. Please keep this injustice done to Creighton in your thoughts and prayers.
