So, at the halfway point, what is more impressive? Tennessee's underachievement or LSU's overachievement?

By the way.....SCOTTY, how are those one-and-done plans going for you?

to me, both are in play

UT is underperforming,
While LSU is a surprise...and the best team in the West, & probably the league.

I think LSU is the bigger deal!

LSU's overachievement?
They have 2 potential NBA players and have one of the most experienced teams in the SEC. Remind me again why you consider them overachieving?

overachievement is based on both true tools, most blatantly their recent history (last season with the same players), and preseason predictions.

So they upgraded coaches, are more experienced than the last 2 years, and have 2 potential NBA players and you are surprised that they are doing good this year? I guess the fact that they were picked preseason 2nd by the media in the West and received as many 1st place votes as Bama and returned all 5 starters and 10 players from last year should add to their "overachieving" surprise for you... Oh and add to the fact that only 2 teams had 3 players chosen by the coaches preseason All-Sec team... One's Tenn. What to guess who the other was? I'll give you 2 choices... Lsu and... Lsu...

truthfully, I expected UT to do much better, and I really had not studied LSU that much,
BUT, their coach got fired last year, due to acceptable performance.,

Otherwise, I don't really give a ****!

Upgrade? Well, that was to be determined....seems to be going well.

Preseason 2nd in the west isn't saying all that much, as they would have been considered 5th or 6th in the overall SEC.

Those NBA potential players were there last year, one was picked all sec last year, the other all-freshman sec team. didnt seem to matter much last year.

Granted, no one expected them to suck, but find me someone who picked them at 6-1, 18-4, staring down 7-1 at midway point in the sec season. That's why it is a question.

preseason predictions.
What preseason predictions? The one's you made up in your head? Most media were split between Bama and Lsu for 1st in the West. The SEC media picked them 2nd in the West but they had as many 1st place votes as Bama. USA Today, Sporting News and CBS Sports picked Lsu 1st in the West. Not sure what preseason predictions you are going by here? It's not like Lsu is ranked in the top ten. I would think if there was any overachieving team in the SEC, it would be Usc. Those guys were picked last in the East and they are only 3 games away from winning 20 this year and are currently 2nd in the East. They are also looking good for the NCAA Tourney. They only won 14 games last. Maybe they should be your overachieving team....

UT, UF, UK, ALA, then LSU. And no, there were no overall SEC predictions, but according to the media, the SEC West was not expected to contend with the East. Again, I didn't expect them to be last, but I still think 7-1 and 18-4 is well above what I, yes I, expected. (That's why we're not getting paid for our opinions.) What about you? Are you telling me you had them picked at 18-4/7-1?

If you did, praise you. If you were guessed lower, than yes, they are overachieving at this point.

So, I'm marking you down as a vote for UT underachieving, huh?

Oh, and USC....happy for them, but we're not playing USC Wednesday night. Maybe I'll ask it again when we play them.

Exactly, Not even close. I'm not trying to bust your balls. I'm just saying there was a better choice for an overachieving team in the SEC. It was discussed in the preseason on here that Lsu had talent and could very well run away with the West this year. I just didn't think it was a secret that they could be a very good team this year with the returning experience and talent.

the SEC West was not expected to contend with the East
That's every year, if you haven't noticed. UK could put 5 turds on the floor and they would get picked ahead of any West team.

That's why we're not getting paid for our opinions.) What about you? Are you telling me you had them picked at 18-4/7-1?

The fact that the only game they won that I didn't think they would was at UT, then yeah, 17-5/6-2 isn't that big of a difference than 18-4/7-1.

We aren't that far apart in our opinions, but i just didn't feel that they could get it together this well this year dispite the talent potential....I doubted their heart after watching last year's team. Obviously I was underestimating them (hence, in my opinion, they are overachieving.) Coach doing a great job.

Sarcasm removed: it is nice to find a web site with bloggers with hi bball IQ (except those who think we should go to a 2-3 zone to stop hot 3 point shooters).

Enjoyed, goodnight
