Overall, not a very well coached team, too may mistakes.

Houston will score at will on us! Still think we may surprise somebody, but unless we improve, we will end up 2 and 10. I am wondering how many out there will still be talking about our improvement if we go 2 and 10?

Dude, we have fumbled the ball 5 times and lost it 4. They have 21 points off turnovers. You can talk discipline all you want, but that is just bad plays by the players. These guys can coach.

We have a garbage secondary and no QB.

What are you guys, lawyers? I mean, jeez, get off the bandwagon and watch the games. I hope the staff improves, I have been suffering with this program for awhile, but they are no well prepared, hence bad coaching. Get a clue.

I am a lawyer. Was that a joke?

You are a dubmass. When your star RB who has not fumbled in a year and a half has two critical fumbles, you can hardly chalk that up to coaching.

that this team is 1000 times better coached than last year's team is either an idiot, or has never watched a football game.

We rank 102 in fewest yards off penalties and 82nd on TO margin BEFORE tonight. Nothing wrong with the offensive playcalling... I'm thrilled we scored more than 3 points. But, ultimately the coaching staff is responsible for all parts of the game.

Your posts make no sense. And what does azzur being a atty have anything to do with you being a dubmass. Honestly, mullen is the only reason have our fanbase has hope. We have progressed in one year what crooms did in 5 years. We get us a qb and 1 or maybe 4 or 5 dbs we will be set.

Constanza, jeez let a man have an opinion. You think the team is improved, I don't. You are an MSU fan, so am I. Get over it, we suck, and the multitude of fumbles and mistakes show me a badly coached team. I didn't say we aren't better off, but we are not improved. We are better off because our coach is young and energetic, has caught a few bad breaks, and is learning. Yes, I have watched a football game and I have played in football game, while you were still probably nursing on your Mom's tit. Don't call anyone an idiot for having an opinion.

....try reading for a little while before you jump in with both feet posting. Do you just walk up to people you don't know at a State game and start giving them your opinion? Same thing here. Learn a little bit about the board before posting and making yourself look like a dubmass.

Some of you may have paid your dues, but I know I have. I will trade Gameday war stories with any of ya, and am a Dawg through and through. I don't want to be negative, but I will post my observations as I see fit. As for now, our football team is not very good, plain and simple. I think we can play, but we have no discipline. We make too many mistakes, and all the people who disagree with me say I am an idiot and I make no sense or I have never watched a football game or are lawyers (who are all idiots). Tell me why I am idiot or have no sense. Break down some plays for me, you geniuses (msuconstanza). Oh, I get it, somebody will probably just call me an idiot again. Cheers!

Even more of one if you actually played football and can't see that we are light years better coached this year than the last 5. We could've played 5 games and not scored 31 points on offense against a I-A team last year. What don't you see about that? We were 3 inches from beating LSU. And LSU has been beating us, in case you haven't noticed, by 30-40 points every year for a decade. Yes, our defense is atrocious, but it's really about the secondary. We lost Pegues and Fitzhugh, and Croom left us barren.

And just lately started posting, and good lord man, talk like that will get you eaten alive around here. And besides that, who the hell can't tell we are a better football team? Jesus man, we have a NAIA secondary, no QB, and our stud RB had two fumbles tonight- and we only lost by 11**. You need a reality check.

Rest of world: 3 is in fact bigger than 2 by 1.

Coach Polk never hit a homerun for me and he never struck out for me. He never made a great play for me or caused me to make an error. People who want to always blame or praise coaches for players physical mistakes or successes are IDIOTS! Coaches prepare players and put them in position. These coaches are doing that.

It is the players who fumble and score touchdowns. It is the players who throw interceptions and make interceptions.

Mullen has taken a group of players who couldn't score points at all last year and now we move the ball with regularity. This team is in games they weren't in in the past.

Our defensive secondary should be called "molasses in winter". They are just too slow.

This is not on Mullen.

I understand your point, to a degree. However, team discipline is installed by the coaching staff. Be a part of denial for as long as you want, but disciplined teams have minimal mistakes. Don't blame me for wanting to one day find that coach that will install a sense of winning in our players. Blame it on talent if you want, but we may not be able to get much better talent. We are Mississippi State, not Bama, not Florida, Not LSU, etc. It is going to take a coach that inspires a team to play beyond its ability and that, my friend, is coaching. Mullen may turn around our program and I hope he does. But believe me, my friend, coaching inspires winning and that minimizes fumbles, interceptions, mistakes, etc.

how you can say that we are not better than last year. Our offense has made marked improvement, and we're doing this with two below average QB's. Our o-line has improved every week. The receivers played their best game as a group tonight, especially Bumphis. AD had a bad game in terms of fumbling, but that's not typical, and other than that, he played very well.

Defensively, maybe you can make an arguement there, but we've also had some games where we played fairly well- LSU and Vandy in particular. Tonight wasn't totally on them, either. To me we lost because of the TO's more than anything else.

ST's are also markedly improved. We have two decent kickers, a good punter, and a very dangerous return guy in Berry.

As far as Mullen, aside from two play calls that I personally disagree with, I have no complaints about any of his other play calls. I can't really realistically ask for much more than that. And given the players that he has, I'm not sure that I can really ask for much more either.

Also, our penalties have gone way down as well to.

Croom would have told me I was blind and then do nothing to address any problems with the team.

from recent memory that losses and returns of these players caused their team to all of a sudden lose games when they were lost or win games when they came back. Was that coaching? No you fool. Great players are what make coaches great.

The equation is about 80% players talent and 20% coaching ability. Coaches do get good teams over the top. Mullen has improved this team. If they were a top 20 team last year, they would be a top 5 team this year. However they were like a top 100 team, so if they become a top 50 team, he has done his job.

Coaches do contribute to mindset and Mullen has enhanced the mindset of these players. They try hard and play hard. Unfortunately they do not have enough talent to succeed consistently.

this team under the past administration would be 0-5...the change in coaching is very evident and with the exception of 2 things,(secondary and turnovers) are much better than any of us dreamed....for goodness sakes, let the new staff get a year of recruiting of their own on the field and then judge..think we will like the result...

That's it in a nutshell. Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Nick Saban or whoever couldn't make our current DB's play well. We are just doomed in that area for the rest of the year.
