I don't think the issue should be us underbidding players. We're still a premier program. We should be able to bump up offers to land players because we have the Name and Money to do so.

The problem is overpaying for scrub players. We knew JQ was broken, and Lowe was definitely overpaid. But even guys like BG and Mo got too much, even with their full seasons.

With not many dudes left in the portal, I say go give Momcilovic or Tounde a bag as they seem worth it.

Well, that’s impossible because the money is not there there’s no 21 million there for recruiting. He he doesn’t have it. He got a good back court. He’s hoping Stokes will will commit and he’s hoping to get Moreno back that’s it. He does not have the money he had last year to throw around it average players role players.

Dude should have got multiple point guards. Plus, that team didn't fit the way he likes to play. Both of those issues fall squarely on him.

i actually find this to be true. pope's history/pattern is over correcting....

• year 1 didnt have enough athletes/defense, swings the other way with guys like mo d, aberdeen, JQ
• cant get guys to the pros, goes all in on stokes no matter what
• cant relate to high school recruits, bring in mo williams and (jamal crawford potentially)

so after getting cooked all year by the media for spending 22M on a roster.....he hires a "GM" and they play hardball with a number of portal guys because that is what the market says their value is. not hard to believe.

i always laugh at the need for a GM. we are in an industry that has 1 year contracts with no salary cap. it doesnt matter what the "market" says your value is. there a 360 D1 teams and if 1 over pays for your guy standing by your chart means you will be left with a roster spot that needs to be filled and few guys capable of filling it. you need a financier. identify the guys you want and write the check. the market is 65% higher for players than last year. no GM would know to predict and budget for that.

funny thing about freeman is that initially no one wanted him because he couldnt shoot and was injured. then we he goes somewhere else, the same folks are pissed we didnt offer him the moon.

No offense to you as I am with a doubt sure you like me Love Kentucky, BUT:

We're still a premier program. Might phrased that we were at one time we were a premier program. Not so much today as we didn't adopt and adapt quickly enough. Still time [not next year}, but with the Right Coach who understands the dynamics of what's happening Kentucky can turn on a dime. Well not a Dime/ Millions of Dollars. Sad it's out of hand!
