Last night i was talking to my kid and i started to explain to him the tubby days. Oweh is a tubby type player. He’s came in with that raw skill and has developed tremendously. He was a terrible 3 point shooter who is improving which led me to compare him to keith bogans. Bogans too was powerful. Bogans had trouble shoooting the ball his junior year so returned to try and improve draft stock by fixing his shot. Bogans senior year he was a stud. But I don’t think Oweh is too far off. He started his senior season slow but his shot is looking better every game. His mid range and his 3 point shot. There are alot of other players. But there is no doubt Oweh is as important to this team as bogans was the 2003 team and oweh is improving his shot rapidly.

Idk man. Bogans averaged 17.0ppg and was outstanding as a sophomore. I think the slump had a lot to do with team chemistry for his junior year. I thought his shot mechanics were always pretty good. Bogans was a bonafied stud player in high school as well, with a complete game. Love Oweh but Bogans is a much better all-around player.
For comparison ... fwiw:

I think that is a pretty good comparison. Bogans maybe a little better, but very good comparison. Bogans is in my top 10 fav

Have to wonder how Oweh's injury over the summer affected his start to the season.

It all depends on owehs ability to be a 35% or so 3 point shooter the rest of the season.

The Oweh story isn’t finished. Something did change maybe injury related maybe something else but owehs mechanics are looking better. And he’s show glimpses of of a guy on pace to peak in March.

Yea I see where it’s going but I don’t see Bogans here. Bogans was way more reliable and way better on the ball. He could finished too.

Bogans is one of the most underrated players in UK history. I don’t see their game similar.

I’m terrible at player comparisons. I see more Joe Crawford but Oweh is a lot more athletic.

What about a less athletic Kelenna Auzibuike / Wayne Turner hybrid? Is that bad?

I think the slump had a lot to do with team chemistry for his junior year.

He was strung out on blow. Got straight and had a great senior year. Drugs were the reason team turmoil blew up.

Oweh reminds me of a player that would have been on a Bob Huggins 1990s Cincinnati team. Bob would have played him at the 4 and they would have listed his height as 6'7. Like a cross between Pete Mickeal and Melvin Levitt.

Yep. Would have fit in perfect on those old Huggins teams.

Stillwater, MKG. But MKG was a Rottweiler while Oweh is more of a cocker spaniel

We've had players like him...they're just hard to remember, for a reason. Smoove comes to mind but something's missing from that comparison, too.

Keith bogans is one of the best players to ever play here, and it gets flown under the radar. As said above hes good enough to gave his name in the rafters..if he doesnt turn his ankle in 03, we seriously had a chance to hang a banner. Bogans was a much more polished player than oweh is.

Oweh is more heshimu than bogans maybe, im thinking who's a good comparison

Can’t think of any former UK players but size and physique wise, he resembles Buddy Hield. Both 6’4 220.

I’m not sure who Oweh compares to, but he is the worst starting 2 guard we’ve had at UK in the past 15-20 seasons.

He’s a slightly less athletic Archie Goodwin with a better 3pt shot. And I think if Archie had better players around him, he and Oweh would be even more similar. Both athletic slashers who at times are forced to shoot bad shots.

Goodwin seemed to have a better motor but I don’t remember how he was on defense (to be fair that team was hard to watch after Noel went down).
