I don't know how they say that, but the PAC-12 wasn't too far behind the SEC last season.

Considering like 7? Of the Top 10 SoS last season belonged to SEC teams I think the SEC has every right to keep there conference play at 8

Exactly. These other conferences HAVE to play a 9-game schedule just to have a strength of schedule anywhere near what most SEC schools play every year.

They want us to play 9 conference games so they know they won't have to worry about 2-3 of their OOC games being against SEC teams. They obviously don't like our new policy.

Slive should have sat everyone down and told them behind closed doors that each team had to play a major OOC every season. Making this public gives other teams leverage, and if it's true we can't get anyone to come to Starkghanistan (true meaning of a real game for anyone who matters) it's now going to take every $$$ we're getting from ESPN to pay off Iowa State to come over.

The Big 12 has no problems playing SEC teams as it was even with their 9 game schedule. Now it probably will. Dumb.

I don't expect a Pac-12 school to come close to the southeast. We can forget that. Unless it's a slam dunk (UT the last couple of seasons) or they get PAAAAAAIIIIIIID. To be honest I'm not very interested in any of their teams regardless. I WANT to play ACC teams because I WANT to go to their campuses and mingle with THEIR fans. I can't picture myself heading all the way to Seattle to hang out with skinny pant wearing emo kids.

Why are people so fixated on the Big 12 and PAC-12 on this? Most of the new non-conference games are going to come from the ACC. This isn't something the SEC just did unilaterally. And we're not going to just be on our own to find non-conference opponents. There will be a scheduling arrangement between the SEC and the ACC.

I don't think it's ultimately a big deal, but being Mississippi where we're just as close to Texas as the Atlantic Ocean I want to have the option to play teams like TCU. Hell, our largest alumni chapter is Houston isn't it? I know that doesn't mean jack because that did nothing to help us get folks to come to the Texas Kickoff, but if we MUST play a team, I would like it to be a Texas team probably 1A or 1B to ACC teams.

Agreed though. Conference alignment with the ACC has been a thing coming.

Georgia-Georgia Tech, USC-Clemson, UF-FSU, UK-UL, and Vandy-WF are already long standing rivalries. Then you have VT who tries to schedule an SEC team each year. It doesn't change much, and like I said, it's teams with fans that have the same cultural identity as our fans. It just works.

The Pac 10 has a clear agenda. They want every conference to play a 9 game schedule so that conferences don't go outside and play big ooc games. How can you when some years you will only get 4 conference home games? that means your ad will always want a small school to come to your place so he can sell season tickets w/ a 7 game home schedule. This will also mean that there is little way to tell which conferences are strongest. So when its time to pick the four teams, the committee will be forced to pick one from each conference and not allow two SEC teams in the mix. Having the big time ooc games will allow the committee to get a better idea of over conference strength and legitimize two coming out of the SEC. Pure politics.
