Rooting for the regional NFL team is the same as rooting for Pitt. The Blue Lot never ceases to amuse me. I wonder what's next. Use Pittsburgh Int'l to fly to Florida? You support Pitt. Use Heinz ketchup? You support Pitt.
Exactly. Drive through Huntington and you support Marshall.

Boom! There it is. Knew someone would say it.

So serious question - if the steelers were the equivalent of the Jacksonville Jaguars would:

A) anyone in WV give a rats *** about them
B) tremendous players from western PA feel such a strong pull to go there? If the steelers were garbage we would have had a much higher chance to land more of those kids and there isn't an argument otherwise.

I'm just over here laughing at all the Steeler fans crying about Burfict bring dirty with James Harrison on their sideline. The only reason he isn't out there cheap shotting like his glory days is because he knows his old *** would get cut. smdh

And with that logic you somehow earned an advanced degree. I grew up 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh And root for all the pro teams from Pittsburgh. Who am I supposed to pull for? Thank God my father was a WVU fan and instilled an early hatred for Pitt.

A) Yes, because Pittsburgh is the closest city and traditional pro city for the majority of Northern West Virginians. Even when the Pirates sucked, people in NWV still claimed them as their team. Same with the Penguins before Sid.
B) Yes. Does Temple get Philly kids because they play teams at the Linc here and there? Does USF get kids because they play at Ray Jay? No, because that's ridiculous. The idea that Pitt gets kids because they play at Heinz field is just silly. Most go to Pitt because it's their hometown team or they just out recruited WVU.

That was sarcasm. I thought it was pretty obvious.

No idea. I'm originally from Southern WV and started going Steeler games when I was a kid. I live in Baltimore now and enjoy being a Steelers fan here, a. Because we have a huge fan base here and b. Because the two fan bases hate each other.

Here is a question for you. Are you from WV? Why aren't you a Steelers fan? If you tell me because of Western PA recruiting, I'm gonna call you a lunatic.

It's not my place to tell people who or what to cheer for, but maybe we should stop bragging about being the only show in town if our fans are so interested in "the closest city" teams. Ever been to about any of the sec states? They don't give a rats *** about Sunday's, it's all about Saturday's. Maybe if our fans funneled some of their Pittsburgh energy into the states prime time show maybe our fanbase could compare.

He is a sessoned vet...its time he stepped up to be a leader by example. Example... punch #55 in the junk rather than waste time on the refs

Also, earlier in the game he made a veteran move by telling one of his teammates to put his helmet back on to avoid a personal foul call. Still no one seems to talk about the fact that Joey Porter was the one in a group of Bengals players talking **** and the ref decided to flag pac man instead. (that's why he was "wasting" time on the res) But its ok, a former Mountaineer f'ed up and you are happy about that because your Steelers who also displayed a level of knuckleheadness gets to move on to a defeat at Denver.

Classic example of not taking responsibility for his own actions.

He's represented WVU so well since he left.

So you feel that WVU's fanbase is weak because they watch and root for NFL teams?

Exactly my thoughts...and he's been given many chances, rather he likes it or not, he will be judged by his actions, he dictated by his past.

To each there own.

I'm not a lunatic, nor do I believe that simply playing at Heinz field is the reason Pitt locks up western pa recruits. I'm from Beckley, grew up loving the mountaineers and not giving a damn about pro sports, I was and am still completely consumed by the gold and blue. I really was turned off by the steelers by my time in Morgantown. Many of the Pittsburgh people I was around looked at WVU as their 2nd viewing option. Is that their fault? No. But when they act like they didn't care when we lost, or God forbid, didn't show up to WVU games (or even watch many times) it pissed me off to no end.

We see different pictures based from our experiences. That's all.
