Do you go to the game or just say eff Oxford? Do you set up in the Grove and do the whole tailgating routine? Do you go hang out in the grove with your Black Bear friends? Do you spend the night or is that far too much exposure to that much culture? What is your favorite place to eat/hang out in town? Have any good stories related to same?<div>
</div><div>I know many of you will be appalled that someone would consider spending any more time than necessary in the town up north, so feel free to spew yourvitriolin this thread as well. I went to law school in Oxford, and I have tons of friends that are loyal bears, so I enjoy hanging out with those guys. When in school there, I generally had a policy of ignoring the fact that there was even an athletic program there, and that allowed me to enjoy the town, the people, and the nightlife. That said, my usual haunts are the City Grocery bar or the Library, and 208 was my favorite restaurant when I was in school circa 2005. I spent a great deal of my financial aid at Two Stick.</div><div>
</div><div>Sometimes we set up full-on tailgates, and sometimes I just hop around to see old friends. </div><div>

...and have never attended any other football game in Oxford (have attended 2-3 basketball games at Tad Smith though).

I have only been to a baseball game in 2007 and stayed for half of the blowout loss we had going. Hell it was like 13-3 at the end of the third inning. If I ever go back (highly unlikely) I will probably piss on every tree in the grove to mark my territory then leave. I can't breathe the toxic air up there.

squeeze through 2 foot wide opening between buildings on way to stadium, shove cowbell down pants, avoid a patdown since my clothes don't appear bulky, ring cowbell, watch the game, get the hell out of there.

but on the positive, Jeff Flagg hit a bomb completely off campus - just disappeared into the night. Went to the Saturday game too and some of the Sunday, but had to leave before we won in extra innings. Typical.</p>

it is much easier to tolerate and enjoy now as compared to when you were in college. I have made it through the last 5 egg bowls in Oxford, and if I can deal with it, anyone can. You also don't have to spend a dime there. GAs up before you go, buy beer or liquor before you go(their's isn't cold anyway), bring your own food or eat before you get to the game.

I imagine it would be an unreal feeling to go back to the groooove and sit after a win, but unfortuanately, I've never seen that happen in Oxford in person. I'm thinking I'm due.

Yea Flagg hit that ball hard.... I think it landed in Sardis lake. I watched thesunday game on tv in starkville and it went 17 innings I think..... J. Rae hit a homer in that game.

I would not consider missing the game as long as I am physically able to be there. I think our team needs to see as muchmaroon and white at that games as possible. My family and I try to get there early enough to park in in the large parking lot between the Tad Pad and the practice fields--not the Grove. We set up our food on the tailgate of our SUV--literally a tailgate--nothing fancy. I bought 8 tickets this year (at $65 a pop--what a ripoff!), and there will be at least 8 MSU fans in Section R clad in maroon and yelling for the Bulldogs to beat the Rebs.</p>

ever attend another there. I did make one trip during college to the Tad Pad and sat with the water dripping on me cause it was raining outside (and in) I've been across the country to see the Dogs play lots of teams but refuse to drive to Oxford.

I went to a basketball game the last time Kentucky came to the TAD PAD. My son-in-law is a KY graduate and is diehard fan. I went with him and our seats were in the nose bleed section but there were so few Ole Miss there that I sat four rows behind the bench center court.

I am serious, if it hadn't been for the student section and KY fans there wouldn't have been a 1000 people at the game. You could sit anywhere you wanted and they beat Kentucky that night.

I've never understood this line of thinking. You hate a rival college team so you refuse to go support your team that's having a good season? You are pathetic. The same can be said for Rebel fans who refuse to go to Starkville to support the team. I was in Baton Rouge last weekend and will be in Starkville next season having a great time. You just sound like a bitchy little middle school kid. Support your team.

I saw the dogs kick the bears in the dumpy hubcap in late 70s. I went back to the even dumpier hubcap a couple of years ago and saw us win again. It is terrible, I hope they keep it for 100 more years.

I saw Jackie kick them around in the Vaught's hemmorhoid, then I saw us blow a 16-0 lead after Wayne Madkin went out. I'm going back Saturday.
