Got info last night from a good authority that we are playing in Bham. He was so confident he already had 30 tks reserved and he is well connected within the Bham sports community.
Take it for what it's worth.

That description of your "source" does not reassure me. I'll take it with a grain of salt. I expect Liberty or BBVA. I'm hoping for Liberty.

I'd say get ready to see 30 Compass Bowl tickets from one seller available on StubHub. Anything could happen, but I think there are too many forces at work here for any result other than us to Liberty and Vandy to Compass. The only thing that could happen to derail it is Mike Slive being a dick for no real reason, which, while completely plausible given his history, I don't think will happen.

Nope

Only 2 teams per conference in the BCS. Winner of Mizzou/auburn gets an auto invite, and Bama will be higher ranked than the loser.

Only things that could mix up is who goes Cap1/Cotton/Outback.

I don't believe it would affect the bottom couple of bowls. May shift a few towards the top but I don't expect it to steer us either way.

I'm wondering if Bama would drop out of the BCS

I see voters having a hard time voting Bama higher than the team that just beat them. It seems that could really muddy up the bowl picture.

Liberty bowl just tweeted with a pic of MSU's players.
Somebody that knows how to post pics can help this thread out.

I think it depends on whether the Gator Bowl takes Georgia or Vanderbilt.

Gator - Georgia
Music City - Ole Miss
Liberty - Mississippi State
BBVA - Vanderbilt

Liberty - Ole Miss
BBVA - Mississippi State

Find out who the Gator is picking, and that will determine where we go.

I don't think so, nor should they. And that's coming from someone who is basically anti-Bama.

In either scenario, we are Liberty Bound. The Liberty Bowl would take us ahead of Ole Miss. I will let others on here who have connections confirm this, but I'll just say that how you treat bowl representatives can make a huge difference down the line.

The Liberty Bowl absolutely loves us. Not only do we make them money at the game, but we court their representatives. If there were no outside forces involved, we will be Memphis-bound, no questions asked. And to be quite frank I would rather enjoy a couple of days in Memphis than going 6+ hours away. I enjoyed our last trip up there.

On a side note: It completely sucks that teams like State, OM, Vandy, and Kentucky always get the bottom bowls unless we are light years ahead of Georgia, Bama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, and Florida.

I almost feel bad for Vandy (I said almost) because we have been in that situation too many times where a team with a worse record bumps us down because of their name.

Bingo. The thing is that I don't see any way the Gator chooses Vandy over UGA. Closer and travels better. Better TV numbers too

Not if you're from Jackson, MS (about 240 miles and +-3.5/3.75 hours) so my bags stay their *** at home and its a days drive & back. Of course others coming from further distance I can understand the bags....
