Anybody buying what Peter Jacobson is selling about the Srixon ball? That unless you are under a 10 handicap the Pro-v's of the world will give you more side spin and therefore take you into trouble.

Srixon engineered to keep you in play. Interesting.

Not only Srixon, but Jake is spot on. Any high spinning ball makes hooks and slices even worse. Unless you are a low handicapper, play a E6, Noodle, top flight gamer. They are half the price and make your round more enjoyable.

When I saw her hit that shot, I thought she was awfully close to the sand at address.

With that said, the USGA screwed it up again. Telling her after she hit her 3rd shot, and telling Lang before she hit her 3rd. They should have been told at the exact same time.
Another awful decision by the USGA. Could have made a difference in how each played their shots.
Rack this.

I am pissed at FOX for notifying the USGA with the video. Did they have every player's shot on every hole on video? No. This calling in penalties and then an inept organization like the USGA screws it up even worse. Pro golf is almost becoming unwatchabel because of this crap. If golf is a game of honor then keep it that way, Anna did not see the sand move, nor did Brittany nor any official, so leave it be.

Definitely don't agree with players being penalized because they are on tv more. It should be fair to everybody. The tv should not be able to penalize a player since every shot by every player is not played on tv. If the player doesn't call it on their own, or if their partners or officials don't see it, then that's it and move on. After the fact penalties should be levied at the next tournament or not at all.

While we are at it, players should get free drops out of divots. IMO

Shot my best score ever today. 69 at Golf Club of The Bluegrass. Only the 3rd time I've ever been below par. Hadn't really been playing great, so it kind of came out of no where.

Shot a 75 there yesterday from the blues.....Very happy with the round.....Course was in very good shape. Greens were soft as heck.

Game seems to be shaping up nicely over the past couple of weeks. Shot a 76 three weekends ago with a 43-33 then hovered around 80-84 for most rounds with more inconsistency from front to back. But I finally put together three nice rounds this weekend. Shot a 71 on Friday, my first round under par, then a 78 Saturday and another 78 yesterday.

Picked up the new M1, kinda blind. Hit it on the simulator in my bare feet, but I'm still unable to trust those things.

Assume many here have it, seems like every other golfer in the world does -- so they must be good.

Last two rounds 83 at Lakeside from tips and beyond, preparing for city on Friday, 80 at Tates Creek. Lakeside is a damn beast when they really tip it out with way back tees on 1,2 and 8. 8 tipped out where the tee is level with 7 green is a massive hole.

Playing the city and know making the cut would be a decent ask for me, think you have to shoot about 156. One round in the 70's and a the other below 85 and id take it. It would be nice to play up to your real abilities but for me the pressure is pretty damn strong.

On the rangefinder discussion from gyero, ive often thought about getting a watch rangefinder. Anyone have one? Would you say they are worth it or just buy a regular rangefinder?

^ isn't the watch just GPS? You can do that on your phone for free, or $5 or less for a good one.

I've had SkyDroid for years on my phone, and it's fine.

I used a friend's M1 for a few rounds, and I didn't really care for it. I think the M2 may be better for me, but I would like to wait until it drops a bit in price. My current driver is a 6 year old Taylomade Burner. I hit it well enough, but I feel like I'm missing out because I'm not using the newest technology.

Kinda where I was. I honestly feel like my I20 had become 'dead', or there was something wrong with it. I've never liked Taylor Made in limited swings, but I've also never owned one.

We'll see...

81 at Heritage Hill yesterday from the whites. Took a triple on the first hole. Tee to green looked fine, ball would not fall in the hole for me. Lipped out 4 and had 2 stop on the front edge hanging over the hole. Had to do quite a bit of up hill walking in the heat. Took it out of me.

Going to hold off on a new driver until early Spring, no clue what I'll screw up and buy yet.

Just bought a older Titleist 910D2 on Ebay for $40, because it matches my fairway woods which I hit really well. Put a new grip on it, then played a round with it for the first time yesterday and shot a 76, blue tees at Champions, best round of the year. So much for new technology :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(actually short game was really sharp yesterday, which is the main reaon for the good score, but I do like the look and feel of the new "old" driver)

U.S. Ryder Cup team: Top eight from points list as of Aug. 28. Davis Love with three of four captain's picks Sept. 11. Final pick Sept. 25.

CANNOT WAIT to see Eldrick riding around in a golf cart patting butts.

I was in this exact situation two months ago. I played the burner for 7 years. M1 is 10-15 yards longer, easy. Maybe 20.

I'm still hitting a 910D3. But like bbdk said earlier, it feels "dead" to me now. I may just change to a D2 for a little extra forgiveness and call it a day.

If Love III loses a 2nd straight Ryder Cup on home soil, how bad will we grill him?

If Love loses again he should be banned from the game. Not even allowed to play his local muni. I truly don't understand why in the hell they picked him. It should've been the simplest decision of all-time to either give it to Zinger again, or Freddy.

Agreed. They had this Ryder Cup committee and they brought in the guy that was captain for the biggest collapse in history (or maybe tied with 1997). Either way, seemed odd to me. I know Love III didn't hit a shot in that event and the collapse is in large part due to the players.

On a somewhat related note. If Jim Furyk gets picked for "veteran leadership" you can bet whatever you want on the Euro's. Easy money. Saw Love III wanted veterans on the team. He likes the grizzled vets that have lost all but 1 Ryder Cup. I say bring in the young guys, or guys that have been on successful teams as captain's picks.

Got ridiculed by the Eutopeans for forming a committee to pick the Captain and this was who we came up with? Could have done better picking names out of a hat.

Buddy bought one and he is driving the ball better than ever. At least 10 yards longer and more accurate. I tried it and didn't care for it. To each their own.

Simulators are the worst places to get fitted. Fun to goof off in, but never would buy clubs based on its numbers. I know the local Golfsmith where I live alters their simulator software to give higher yardages than reality to pump sales. Best place I go to is a local driving range that has a flight scope. I can get numbers but actually see the true ball flight and distance as well. My best drive may go about 290-300 (if I hit it absolutely perfect with some good roll). Simulator had me hitting them 310 or higher. I knew that day I was being hoodwinked into buying a club that was no better than the one I tested and bought at the range.

Oh good Lord no. You have to be kidding right? I would take Justin Thomas and several others like him before Furyk, Stricker, etc. Look, the Euros have the better deeper team, and it is not close, so doing the same old, same old, is just not going to work any better than it has in the past 10 or 15 years.

If you're worried about inflated numbers in a simulator just take your current club in with you. I've never seen them object to that and you'll know how it compares even if the yardages are inflated.

My distance numbers were accurate compared to my normal, 265-280 on 90% of them -- but you still can't get a good feel for the ball flight or trust where it's going, imo Some of the balls I know I hit ****** went the distance, while others that felt great did not.

Just got back from range, face seems hot -- hit it fine. Swing needs work -- haven't broken 80 in 3 straight rounds (81/80/81), which hasn't happened in a few years -- and those scores could have been much worse without some major scrambling.

Need a lesson. Bad.

910 is considered by many as the best driver Titleist has ever made.

It is actually a 910D2 to be exact. What about the standard shaft it comes with? (Kai"ll 65 mid flex R) I was thinking about getting it reshafted at MOW golf, but not sure it will make that much of a difference.
