I want to see him back playing again soon but ive always said and thought an EXTENDED break to heal his body and mind would be good for Tiger. Hopefully, we will see him when the season starts in the fall at a lesser event.

I agree. I'm a Tiger fan too. He needs to let his body heal and to quote Cool Hand Luke's warden he needed to "get his mind right."

People talk about his age but he's same age as Stenson and much younger than Phil.

If, and it's a big if, he can come back healthy I think he still has several wins in him and a couple majors.

Played in a scramble last year where we shot -20 under and everyone thought we cheated even though they knew us and would vouch our legit HC's, honor, etc. When you put 4 good golfers together and everyone is hitting on all cylinders in some aspect of their game, it's easy to score really low in a scramble. You then add mulligans, red tees, etc for money and it becomes a complete score fest. I was crushing drives all day long, buddy was hitting irons like a madman, and we were all making putts out of our asses. It happens. Just wished it happened to my individual game a lot more often.

I've played in hundreds of scrambles over the last 20+ years in western Kentucky. And I've seen almost no cheating. Most of the time the only thing I hear is bellyaching from bad teams that don't think there is anyway another team could shoot -18. They can't fathom it because they can't get close to it so they say they cheated.

Now, I'm sure cheating exists, but I don't think it is near as rampant as some seem to think. And I'm almost certain the cheating very very rarely comes from teams that are good enough to win on their own.

I've never played on a team that cheated, and I've never played with any guys that wanted our team to cheat. It's just hard for me to believe it happens near as much as some think.

No scramble cheating in over 20 years? Dude are you only playing with your wife and kids? LOL

I won't play in a scramble because it has always been obvious. Last one I played in was a rainy crappy windy day and we fought our asses off for 8 under thinking we had a chance. Frigging winners came in at 20 under. NOT A FRIGGING CHANCE THAT COURSE GAVE UP 20 UNDER. A foursome of Phil, Stenson, Spieth and Watson would not have shot 20 under that day.

But hey if you have a good group of guys and just want to drink and play some golf, have at it.

Even for those that are loaded or play their *** off, why have people scoff and say "they cheated"? Just put two teams together and it stops all of it.

Headed back to Chariot Run Thursday. I love that course. If I was just closer I'd join. It's only like $1500 a year cart included.

The fact that you shot -8 and thought you had a chance tells me all I need to know. You think people cheat so often because you aren't very good. You just refuse to believe a team is that much better than yours.

The wind could blow 50 mph, rain sideways, and hail, and -8 wouldn't win **** if there was even a decent team in a scramble.

I prefer playing in 8 somes really. I think it's more fun. One time played in 12 somes. It was fun as hell, but took damn near all day.

I never enter a scramble expecting to win. I'm happy if we finish in top half of field. Only won one ever.

I play scrambles to have fun with my buddies, support someone's cause and maybe win a decent door prize.

A team of a bunch of mid-80s golfers can pretty easily shoot 10-15 under in a scramble. With string, mulligans, throws, etc it's really not that difficult to shoot even better than that, particularly if most the par 5s are reachable.

I think cheating happens in them, but I agree that the amount of cheating is overblown.

[laughing] No ****.

-8 wouldn't win a 4 man scramble at Oakmont, get real.

Yep. I'm not a good golfer and I've played some scrambles with golfers of similar ability and we almost always hit double digits below par.

Anybody see Steve Wheatcroft bunker shot on 18 in the Canadian Open today. Hit it close for birdie and go to play off, hit it on and 2 putt and get 2nd. Instead he hits it across green and into the water.

Guy is a true journeyman trying to keep his card. Could see the heartbreak on his face while DJ played his shot.

Finish 2nd and he moves to 109, finished T5 and now at 134 and wouldn't keep his card.

Felt bad for him.

Got 4 for Sunday at Baltusrol. Should be a good show.

Taking my brothers. Maybe those cheap Bastiches buy me a drink (or two).

Can't recall ever seeing a guy almost cry on the course over a shot. Just awful. Guy was so rattled and emotional after the shot I legitimately don't think he knew what to do/where to drop/etc. DJ was helping him and even physically moved his driver for his drop so he wouldn't drop closer to the hole.

Finally took the M1 out for the first time -- TM is definitely a way different feel than I'm used to, and I struggled with it early. Hit a few on the screws that were legit 15-20 yards further than my normal, was in a few spots that I've never been on a few holes that I've played 100s of times -- even some of my misses were out past my usual once I started hitting it. Thing is definitely "hot", but the feel is going to take some time.

Also, I realized that I didn't receive an adjuster "tool' with my purchase -- was that a mistake? Surely to God they include one with a $500 driver, right?

I saw it, I honestly thought he was going to cry. Looks like he was trying to blame it on lack of sand in the bunker, but I don't know, seemed like everyone else hit decent shots. I did feel terrible for the guy though. Once he dropped, I would have bet my car he would miss the putt, he was just so rattled.

Need Hybrid help:

About ready to replace my 6 or 7 year old Cleveland Rail-h hybrids.

Thinking about Titliest to match Driver and FW woods:

My options are either 816 H1, the newest titleist hybrid. I am also thinking about the 913h or the 913h.D. These are a little older, came out in 2013, but needless to say a whole lot less expensive. Can probably get them for 35 or $40 a club. The 816 are at least 125 or 150, even on eBay.

I read the reviews, and they are well thought of, but online reviews say positive things about many clubs

Has anyone played either one and do you have an opinion?

Most rattled I've ever seen a tour pro. But it was a life changing moment for him. A win means a 2 year exemption and would have more than doubled his career winnings.

The Titleist tool works on the M1 if you still have that.

I have an 816. I like it much better than the previous models.

It definitely should have been included. Just contact them and I'm sure they'd be happy to give you one.

Did you melt? I played Saturday afternoon and honestly got dizzy when I bent over to putt on 16th hole, was just a sauna bath all weekend.

Played in an 8some yesterday. Other team didn't have a ball in play on a par 5. We saw the ball that was eventually "found" headed out of bounds with a purpose. The four of them looked for it quite a bit but the ball wasn't found until two guys off my team found it for them. Laying right next to the cart path where you could see it from 20 yards away easy. I told the guy on the cart with me that it was the MO of one of the guys on that team. He drops balls and lets the other guy find it for him. He thinks that makes it more legit.

You can only attempt to slow down the cheating, you can't stop it.

How long until a 5 hour round is considered "acceptable pace of play"? Growing the game is making for miserable rounds at almost any course you go to anymore. Seems like about 40% of the golfers at 18 hole facilities belong at meadowbrook or man o war rather than the real course. I remember my dad not even letting me play a real course until I was maybe 12 and could hit the ball pretty consistently. Learn golf course etiquette hacks!

Got my 3rd career eagle last Thursday.
Congratulations. They're awfully fun to get. I have 3 myself and was painfully close to another about 5 rounds ago. Never in my life did I think I would be disappointed with a birdie but I was when I missed about a 10 footer for eagle. I don't make a ton of 10 footers, but I barely missed that one.

Anyone ever played Salt Creek in Nashville, Indiana? I've got a pretty big annual golf trip there this weekend with 19 other guys. I'd love some opinions on the course if anyone has played it. Maybe a little local knowledge if there is randomly someone who has played it a lot.

Being a hack doesn't necessarily lead to slow play, and vice versa. The problem is that most of those guys have zero clue how to play ready golf. How many times have you seen this scenario play out?

Two idiots are cart partners. Idiot #1 is in the right rough 150 yards out, Idiot #2 is in the left rough the same distance. Instead of one guy grabbing a club or two and heading to his ball while the other takes the cart, both of them sit in the cart while one plays, then both hop back in and take the cart over to the other ball while the other plays. Rinse, repeat down the entire fairway.

Same thing on the green, each guy has to wait into the other guy is completely finished before reading his putt - apparently it's too much to ask to read your putt while the other guy is putting.

I've played with speedy 20s and glacial 5s. It just a matter of knowing how to be ready when it's your turn, however many turns that may be.

Yep. I'm a mediocre golfer, and that may be giving myself too much credit but I try to never hold anyone up. I don't need to know if it's 167 to the ridge on the green or 173 to the back shelf my ball will release back down. I want to know to the middle of the green and the flag. 167 or 173 I'm just hoping I hit the green period.

If you are away as soon as you hit your ball and I see it land I'm addressing my ball and firing away. No need to waste time.

And if you plumb bob a putt and misread the way the break goes I may beat you with your own Scotty Cameron. :joy:
