hey man I know you read this board and I just wanted to clarify something.

My mother is the founder/owner of Boardtown Bikes that was hit on Sunday. In the noon broadcast today WCBI reported that the accident happened as the driver came over a hill but that is not accurate. The accident happened on a straight, flat stretch of highway 50, somewhere between Phoebe and West Point. It may seem like a minor difference to some but it is a very big deal because it demonstrates the difference between an honest accident and flat out negligence. Not that I need to, but to make this sports-related, she was training for an IronMan qualifier and was about 30 miles into her bike ride that day.

and to answer RobbieRandolph unfortunately she is not ok.

She is in the ICU in Tupelo right now. She has fractures pretty much everywhere (arms, legs, hands, feet, ribs, vertebrae). She has a contusion on her right frontal lobe and some intra-cranial bleeding in her right temporal lobe that luckily have caused no complications as of yet. She also has a contusion on her heart which the doctors first believe to be the cause for her fluctuating blood pressure but that has turned out not to be the case.

The rest of the details we are pretty much keeping under wraps until the official report is released and the investigation by the highway patrol is completed. Bottom line is it's bad.

She runs one of the most honest bike shops around. They even give you a free tune up a few months after your purchase. We priced the same ones at the Bike Rack here in Jackson and they were easily double the price....plus the workers there are d bags.

Sorry for your mom, will be sure to put her in our prayers.

This isn't the pond and I'm not fishing for sympathy but I do appreciate the thought.

Derek actually got back to me very quickly yesterday after I pinged him on twitter and forwarded the corrected info on to the news department. I haven't had a chance to see it today but I was also told Starkville Daily News had an article in the paper and on their website which was very kind and accurate. Myself and my family really appreciate the outpouring of support from the Golden Triangle/North Mississippi area and of course here and other sites online. Thank you all very much.
