Not being a wiseguy Jimmy, research that a bit more.Lee has world golds and Olympic Silver. He is as credentialed as Taylor.

If youāre looking for a good cause, donate to Wrestling for Life.Just cancelled BTN+ and Rokfin. Keeping Flo because I love wrestling and want to be able to access wrestlers' matches, etc., for the several Hawks' wrestlers I like as well as a few from other schools. I'm torn about discontinuing donating to the HWC. Just don't see where my money - or anyone else's - has made a difference. I'm so bummed that our two Iowa legends couldn't keep us competitive...sucks so bad!! Big time bummed!!
That's actually a good idea. A little there and then double my donation to St. Jude Children's Hospiitals...what a great cause!! I had a great seat for the dual, and the wife and I almost made the 9-hour drive. So glad we didn't...I would have lost my sh*t. Sad times!!If youāre looking for a good cause, donate to Wrestling for Life.
Truth, we saw it. Complacency, comfortable and not willing to adapt. Assistant coaches, Dennis as the head of the HWC.This is on the fanbase as well. The writing was on the wall a few years back. Too many fans making excuses. Too many fans brushing off the warning signs. We were still seeing it just a month ago.
How Tom hasn't been forced to shake up his staff years ago is appalling. Same old crap every year. It's like everybody on the outside could see the program crumbling each year. However those on the inside kept seeing a completely different picture. Some Iowa fans being shocked this year are absolute jokes. Welcome to the apocalypse that didn't need to happen.
Absolutely. Coaching is different than wrestling. Being a great wrestler doesnāt mean you can teach or lead others effectively. Askren still has amazing wrestlers coming to him for advice. Hes been part of a club that produces. That is also what Taylor did. Most of these other names are great wrestlers with no proof they can coach or run a program.Thoughts on Askren taking over? He'd bring in some quality assistants and would be able to recruit with Taylor and Carl.
I don't get the hate for Taylor other than he wrestled for PSU. Guy is business. Great family man, high character and total world class wrestler. Watch the documentary on him.F DT. There's others better suited for Iowa City.
Spencer leeLee has world golds and Olympic Silver. He is as credentialed as Taylor.
Not being a wiseguy, age level doesn't count in big boy wrestling brother. Taylor's hardware is Senior freestyle.Spencer lee
Olympic silver
3 age level golds
David Taylor
Olympic Gold
3 Senior level Golds
World Silver
World Bronze
Taylor obviously older, but right now Taylor has edge.

If they didnāt go to Iowa then love for Iowa doesnāt enter into the equation. Any coach we hire will have a sizable ego. Their ego will encourage them to love Iowa if we hire them. That is the case for all candidates in this thread not named Lee.1. Askren hates Iowa wrestling
2. Dude just had a double lung transplant, his road ahead will never lead to coaching. No way he is ever more than adviser.
Nolf has club in Austin, not sure what Dake is going to do, dont see Boroughs leaving Nebby. Those are the 3 names that should be top of the list.
Realistic plan is gut everyone but Tom and bring in new assistants. KemDawg would be the only recent Hawk I'd bring
Burroughs has been running a club in NJ for a couple years and hasnāt been at Nebraska for a long time1. Askren hates Iowa wrestling

This was a screw up @BasketballRefugee.These guys are highly competitive and money is a factor. They are high level achievers no matter the task. I'll guarantee you if you went bowling with Taylor he wants to kick your ***.![]()
I think we agreeTaylor thought differently. These guys are highly competitive and money is a factor. They are high level achievers no matter the task. I'll guarantee you if you went bowling with Taylor he wants to kick your ***.![]()
Snyder is going to be a no go due to his prostitution arrest. I doubt heās allowed to coach at very many places with that.Dake, Snyder and Lee. Throw a few million out. All weights covered.
Guarantee you that team would figure it out and fast.
The star power would be unbelievable.
Can you imagine the shock in the wrestling world? The headlines?
Recruits would flock to us.
How exciting would that be?
Guy made a mistake, apologized and moved on.Snyder is going to be a no go due to his prostitution arrest. I doubt heās allowed to coach at very many places with that.
Just read an article about bo s dad who is coaching state college high wrestling. Good dude as wellI've posted before on Bo Nicol, I've met him twice. His ******* thing is a game, it's for his opponents. When dealing with fans he is soo humble and gracious. I've seen him take pics and sign until no one was left. 45 minutes both times. Hugging kids, signing everything they wanted. He made sure both times all fans had autographs and selfies that wanted them. It wasn't self serving either, he's just a pretty good guy. I sat beside him at National duals in Nicevile.
He's a great guy when dealing with fans. Opponents, not so much. Lol
It's not surprise you're seeing it's disgust. Whether or not it was expected to happen doesn't mean anyone has to accept it.Why is anyone surprised? How was this not expected?
Is he the coach in waiting at Nebraska? Or maybe back home at Rutgers? Will agree to disagree.. if there was anybody looking hard at him, he would be in coaching already after losing to Dake in the trials.
One of the best ever I agree. He got passed up on the scale, time to move on.
He has a young family,at some point a career needs to take over from competing. I just donāt feel like the offers were there at that time
Yes, and look what he did with Plott.DT is fully vested too, coaching the heck out of these guys. Look what he did to Valencia in one year. Valencia always gassed, technique wasn't quite there. He never gassed once in the world championships and ABSOLUTELY destroyed the field.
Iāll never forget the thread after the 2024 NCAAs in regards to Gadson's tweet, where a handful of us talked about acting now and making a move to go after DT. Most of the boardās so-called āinsidersā laughed it off and questioned why anyone thought heād succeed as a coach. Meanwhile, anyone with a ******* brain could see he was going to be the next big thing, while the Brands apologists treated us ācasualsā like we were clueless. A you said, we are where we are because of those fans as well. This is on the fanbase as well. The writing was on the wall a few years back. Too many fans making excuses. Too many fans brushing off the warning signs. We were still seeing it just a month ago.

I donāt feel bad at all. From everything weāve heard, Bob is a Tom Brands fan, not an Iowa wrestling fan. I would hope he sticks around and continues to support this program, but if losing him is the price of real change, so be it.I feel bad for Bob. This is what his money buys?!? Dude if youre this willing to throw money away I could use a 40-80 acre tract for some hunting.
outside perspective...I follow PSU wrestling....it might not be any consolation, but Iowa tonight gave Penn State all it could handle. There was something like 6 matches decided by one takedown. That's the best anyone has been able to do against Penn state. So Iowa is not as bad as some of you might think. Here's what comes across to me...Iowa has for years played a more defensive style than offensive, which is exactly the opposite of Penn state. And, I would gather that's the Brand's style of wrestling/coaching. Seems as if every year it's the same story on takedowns, Iowa had what, 2 tonight? How often did they even try to get one? Even the announcer in the Gabe Arnold match, when Arnold needed one takedown to win, said something to the effect that he (Arnold) had no offense. Same in the 285 match, did keuter even shoot once? How about Ferrari? Seems to me it's a little more difficult to get takedowns when you're on one knee.I think outside perspective would be valuable
I think thatās the essence of a lot of the frustration. Itās not just losing, itās how they lose. When itās 2-4 heading into the third period and the match feels out of reach, thereās a problemoutside perspective...I follow PSU wrestling....it might not be any consolation, but Iowa tonight gave Penn State all it could handle. Anyway, it was a good match if you're a PSU fan.
We felt your pain in football this year, and basketball....well
Iām aware was saying age level since guy I quoted called Spencer a world champ. Not being a wiseguy, age level doesn't count in big boy wrestling brother. Taylor's hardware is Senior freestyle.
Drake almost had the clinching takedown. Ryder Block was in on Van Ness multiple times. Kueter didn't finish, but got in on the legs. All of them had chances, just didn't finish.Boys, I think itās time for a change. Tonightās performance may be the nadir of Iowa wrestling. Not once did I think any of the nine wrestlers who lost tonight might win their match.
agree and I think his hatred toward Iowa is with the brands, not the school. If they didnāt go to Iowa then love for Iowa doesnāt enter into the equation. Any coach we hire will have a sizable ego. It was a mistake to hire M*. He Had no offense when he wrestled. We wrestle just like Ryan Morningstar. Painful to watch. Zero offense out of anyone.
