Option 1: keep him and throw more Nil money at the program like we did for football and baseball.

Option 2: Buy him out at end of season with no money to add players.

im not advocating one or the other. I’m not sure he’s a great coach but I’m also not sure we are allocating the money needed. Thoughts?

If they were going to throw money nil money into basketball, why haven’t they done it yet?
I guess if you went all in and got like 2-3 big time players, Paris could have a good season. Then you probably wouldn’t want to fire him though. There’s more to this than nil & talent. Program’s at a low point and probably just a good point to build on a different foundation.

Can’t argue with you. Just pointing out that if we fire him things won’t get better until we throw more money at MBB, no matter who the coach is. But, still not convinced Paris is a good enough coach to get us to be contenders. It’s a bad situation.

You would think a new AD would want to make a hire in his first couple of years. Basketball and Baseball should give him a chance to do that.

Yeah, it’s not a good situation right now. Even if they through big NIL money and got 2-3 high profile players now (nothing suggests they will do this), I would rather see them start over with a rebuild.

I like CLP. But I think he continues to recruit SOCON talent and is trying to play in the SEC with it. Again, I like Lamont Paris, but - and I hate it - I just don’t think he’s going to cut it here.
I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I don't like him as our HC.

Unless things change with NIL, portal etc. Gamecock basketball will have a difficult time getting to the point we fans would like. Too many big time basketball schools with $ advantage. The next coach hired will be gone about same time period as our current staff. I hope for different outcome but our history shows this.
