I bet you wanted Beamer gone early this football season! Put the bottle down, take a deep breath and move away from the ledge.
Nope. Never wanted Beamer gone and don't drink.
I just can see with my eyes players in the wrong position and undisciplined. In other words awful coaching.

C'mon look at last year when we had a more talented team. No way to plan on 2 starters being out indefinitely. Last year better than expected. This year worse than expected - so far - although we beat Clemson and have had 2 close SEC losses. Don`t see us winning many more games to be honest. This is year 2 for Pete`s sake - some good recruits coming in. Revel in the women`s success and give the man a chance.

Not that I’m disagreeing with you, but this is year 3.

I say the same thing I said about Paris that I said about Beamer when people were doubting him. Let him coach right on. Just don't give him any raises or extend him beyond than the next year. Make all of his raises contingent on hitting certain markers and don't deviate from that until he breaks through in a big way. I hate paying people millions not to coach.

Sounds to reasonable to be put into practice.

I believe that LP is capable. He proved that last season. We desperately need (but don't have) a point guard. That would make a big difference. Obviously, we will take hits this season. People will just need to be patient.
As noted elsewhere, it’s going to change year to year now; see Missouri.

LP is going get more time

If it helps he did make the NCAA tourney last year and he did beat Clemson this year.

I've seen worse, LOL

The new six-year deal will pay him $26.25 million over the life of the contract, or an average of $4.375 million per year. “Coaching at the University of South Carolina is such a great match for me – the fit, these players, the community, the other coaches,” Paris said in a school news release on Friday.Mar 15, 2024

There is some truth to this, but at the same time it is an excuse for poor play. I mean this team could go winless in conference play. I know most people care more about football and so do I but I also want to see the basketball program competitive on a national level year to year. If seasons like this are acceptable, seasons like this will happen often. I mean 11 wins two years ago and looking like the same this year. If this was football, he might be gone already.

LOL; last year everyone was panicking that Paris might leave so he got a huge raise and extension. Now; he has his generational money, he probably couldn't care less about winning basketball games now.

Everyone wants to see the basketball program competitive my friend; always have. Two starters injured, lost two more KEY guys to the portal; maybe the ‘poor play’ would look better with the two lost starters back in. SEC COTY last season, now it’s acceptable to kick him to the curb?

Every year will look different; new normal. We can whine and moan, hysterics and histrionics, or we can celebrate the wins, be adult about the losses, and try again next time. The team plays hard with one exception in my view, and while we hurt ourselves a good bit we also get officiated out just as often for whatever reason, a curious but undeniable anomaly that started back during the Chris Silva days.

Go Gamecocks.

Do we have one coming in next year or are we once again relying on the portal?

Looks like we're 1-0 in the moral victory category.
1-0 in the stupidity category. Ya'll think it's logical to hire and fire a couple coaches a year in each sport. Beamer would have been fired early this past season and Paris early last season if it were up to the jokers on this board.

Yes, Eli Ellis, I would assume he will play some point at 6-1, big time social media star, can find plenty of info and documentary's, on You Tube.

I'm pretty excited about him coming on board.

Eli Ellis – 6-1, 188-pound guard – Hickory, N.C.

  • Son of Jeremy and Jenny Ellis – has three younger brothers: Isaac, Abraham and Ari
  • Chose South Carolina because of his relationship with the coaching staff, the style of play and it felt like home away from home
  • Currently teammates with fellow signee Hayden Assemian at Moravian Prep, one of the top-ranked high school programs in North Carolina that also competes in the Overtime Elite league ; dad, Jeremy, is the team’s head coach
  • In three OTE games so far this season, averaging 32.3 points, 7.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game
  • OTE all-time leading scorer with multiple 50-point games on his resume
  • Won 2023-24 OTE MVP after averaging 33.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game
  • Four-star prospect ranked inside the top-100 nationally and the No. 3 ranked player in the state of North Carolina via 247Sports ; joins Gregory “GG” Jackson II (2022), Collin-Murray Boyles (2023) and Cam Scott (2024) as four-star signees under Paris at South Carolina

AI Overview

Eli Ellis: Future GOAT of OTE Basketball?
Eli Ellis is a four-star point guard who will play for the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Overtime Elite League (OTE) team, the Nightmare

I never said anything about firing him immediately. I am free to make observations. Likely two terrible season in 3 years and a one and done in the tournament. I’m saying his seat is hot. Like Beamer earlier in the season, no one expects him to go immediately and will be giving another year. After that, I don’t think it’s certain. There is only one metric I can go by and that is the production I see.

Paris has multiple years regardless of how this season ends. Season 1 shouldn't and won't be counted against him.

You speak as if you're actually involved in this process. No one here knows what will happen for certain.
Sometimes you need to let common sense prevail. Unless Paris does something unethical or leaves for another job, he will rightfully be here several more seasons minimum.

I understand we live in a world of instant gratification but fortunately the folks running the program evaluate differently than the fans.

I haven't done the research, but in the last 30 years, has a USC men's basketball coach taken us to the dance in his first two seasons? Crazy to think some of you have him on the hot seat halfway through season 3.

You’re right. I actually sort of enjoy losing seasons with an occasional trip to the dance.

I thought I could help you see the light!
I was expecting more this season. The guard coming in will compliment ugusuk, scott, and conyers nicely. The rest of the SEC recruits too though. There’s still a lot of season left and for me, personally, I expect more given the resources of the university.

Who is in the wrong position? I see an inability to protect the ball as we have 2 starters out with one being the PG. You can blame Paris for not having enough capable players, but I am interested in you explaining the player in an incorrect role.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, M Johnson and T Cooper were major contributors. You can’t always replace that kind of talent in the portal. We have one true center and CMB. Everybody knows to double CMB. Plus , we have 2 key guys out. This year was never going to match last year, but yes, it does look bad, and may get worse. But, LP, has shown he can coach a team to the dance with decent talent. He should get 3 more years to recruit and build. I think the players like him and I think he will recruit talent, like Ellis, who will help immediately.
