Just under 50% of the vote with 3 of 7 boxes counted.

Edit because I assumed a box equals a ward but the numbers seem low for that to be the case.

Primary runoffs are unpredictable. All depends on who the campaigns get out to vote. Somewhere StarkvilleKid is crying.

Dumas defeated Maynard (anti-Sunday Sales) in the D Primary to face Mike Allen (R), who I believe supports Sunday Sales. So we can put another vote in that category. Self lost to Vaughn, who wont support Sunday Sales, but I doubt if Self ever would have either. Runoff in Ward 1, which could determine A GREAT DEAL for Sunday Sales. Mark Duncan and Cory Bagwell. Duncan is the only candidate in Ward 1 that supports Sunday Sales openly (others have indicated that could change their mind, but no need to risk it). So now alderman from wards 3,4, and 5 will more than likely support Sunday Sales. If Duncan wins that gives it a very strong position of passing, with Ward 2 to be determined (Sistrunk is the candidate supportive of Sunday Sales).

as a Camp supporter, does your vote go to 1) Cox, 2) Wiseman 3) the random (R) in the race or 3) no one--staying the 17 away from any polling place on 5/19?

I think Parker needs the vast majority of Dan's votes to win. I have to think he got the majority of the student votes yesterday, absentee or otherwise, and a mid-May runoff doesn't bode well for student-voter turnout.

I want to see at least two more red lights placed on Highway 45 and the gigantic sink hole at the corner of 45 and Churchill filled in the next four years.

Sorry for the length of this. I know most of you guys probably won't take the time to read it.

The folks have spoken and Camp is out. He has still done a lot of great things at City Hall even if all you rentees think he is a lousy landlord and don't like his kids. There is still an election coming up in less than two weeks that's very important to all of us who care about Starkvegas. We have a snake left on the ballot. At my house at least, we shoot snakes.

First, remember only those who voted in the first primary are eligible to vote in the run-off. Cox and Wiseman will be vying for those as well as trying to get their folks out again. The kicker he is that they both need the Camp voters. Will they vote for someone who has been running for mayor from his alderman seat for almost four years, voting against everything Dan tried to do for the city or will they vote for a young man who is proud of being a product of this community and seems to have only honorable intentions even if it is to run for higher office some day? At least Parker will have our interests at heart whether it is from the mayor's office, DC or Jackson. This is one Camp voter who thinks it is a nobrainer and I bet most of the others feel the same way. Wiseman has my vote.

All I have to say is that I hope all you Wiseman supporters are registered to vote in Starkville and have many, many family members and friends who are, too. Give him money and ask all your law school classmates and folks ya'll knew at State to give him money. The big money won't be there for Cox since folks who have the big money see right through this lying jack-***. Parker may be a (1b violation) but he is a decent (1b violation) who has a lot of character. The potential is there for him to do a good job as mayor if he is open to asking for help when he needs it. Also, if I were Parker, I would lose the poverty rate speech. Not the time or place and the stats he is using to back it up are way too soft.

This run-off will be all about turnout. I don't know if a 72 Hour blitz like the one Wiseman put on this time is enough to put him over the top. On the other hand, generally, the person leading the ticket in a situation like this has gotten all the votes he is going to get. The door to door effort by Wiseman and Co. was very effective. As soon as the rain lets up, they need to hit the streets again.

Oh, did I remember to say what a low-life, lying, two-faced, slimeball Cox is? Look into why he left Internationl Paper in Memphis and who he left behind in Cordova. IP - the only job he ever had...... Did he leave willingly or was he fired? When you run for office, do you have to give a reason why you left your last position? If he is so f***ing smart with his degree in economics from UVA (I've heard that when you wash out of UVA's School of Business, they give you a degree in Econ), with as many folks as MSU employs, why isn't he working out there somewhere? He has family members out on the campaign trail saying that he needs a j-o-b so please vote for him! Have you looked at how much the mayor makes? A hellluva lot less than us I bet. Why is Cox willing to settle for that?

A lot of unanswered questions.......

is because Dan told him he wasn't running. Parker never wanted to run against Dan.

This is why I hate politics. Everyone is two-faced.

Wiseman has never had a job. Lists his NC grad school education as experience.
Wiseman Way Too Preachy and Screachy - No one could stand to stay in a room to listen to this guy. He sounds like a Pentacostal preacher who has had way too much coffee. Comes across as an a very angry, pessimestic young man. His platform sounds like one of a person who is running for Congress not Mayor
Lawyer? How many cases has Wiseman had? Experience and job title are not the same thing, dummy!

it isn't two-faced when you are being a steward of society and only hope for the betterment of those in the Jewel.

the business end of my .357 jacked up with some Hornady hollow points, if they're interested. They won't have to go to Pennsylvania to find me.

and I read all of it, I was seriously considering Wiseman. Now, not so much.

I'm sure Parker appreciates your support though.

Not that anyone has said it before, but you are really <17>'n stupid. You don't "wash out" of UVA's business school and they certainly don't throw a degree of economics at you.

I constantly hear the Dan Camp faction berating Matt Cox. However, there are never any specifics given. He didn't support many of the initiatives Dan put forth. Yes some of it was probably for his own personal gain but he's in politics his sin is no worse than his opponents in this case. I constantly hear the question do you know why Matt left IP? Of course the Dan Camp supporter doesn't seem to know the answer either but there are sinister implications here. And I haven't been nor have I heard of any Matt Cox supporter or family member asking people to vote for him because he needs a job. That one is simply ridiculous. I also haven't seen either Matt, Parker, or their supporters trying any character assassination attempts. Bottom line Matt and Parker are better candidates and the election process actually worked this time.

So please tell me why did Matt leave IP? Can you back up any claim you make?
Why is Matt such a "snake in the grass". No one ever cites specifics. Is it because he isn't an unabashed jackass like Dan? (full disclosure: I know Dan and like him personally, he would make a great Ward 4 alderman and his talents would be better served in that capacity)
Why is Matt such a low-life? He is always prepared at BOA meetings. Acts professionally. I live in Ward 5 and he has always been responsive to any of my concerns. He even worked to get a millage rate increase, not something that was politically expedient to be sure.

Who wins in a runnoff? If Parker can get Dan's base out to vote for him it should be easy. I think Starkville will be well served by either.

I would hate to know that the ramblings of a faceless internet poster that goes by "starkvillekid" could have any impact whatsoever on who I vote for in any election. More power to you though.

Dawgstudent, politics is like sports. You don't say nice things about the other team's quarterback until after your opponent has won the game!

because usually before the game, the opposing team shuts its mouth. You didn't but you come today singing Wiseman's praises.
