has anyone ever been to this? Apparently its an outdoor event/party on the 4th of July in D.C. and is $85 a ticket. Me and a couple of my buddies will be in D.C. for the 4th and was wondering if it was worth paying the $85.

then it is pretty much a six hour booze cruise up and down the Potomoc. Considering what you would normally spend on a bar tab in the city, $85 for that amount of time for top shelf liquor and nice eye candy, I'd say its worth it. The view for the fireworks can't be beat either unless you can score a rooftop somewhere in Georgetown. Avoid the Mall and the metro at all costs. Your mileage may vary though as I'm recalling all of this from about four years ago.

i seriously considered it since I'll be up there that weekend, but my fiance has a friend with a penthouse in crystal city that overlooks the river, monuments. Gonna be partying there instead. Getting around DC is painful without the big events, but unbearable during them.

And yes, it is a pretty good time. MaverickAG is right, you cannot do anything else in the city for less than $85. Plus, it is generally full of people from the South.

There used to be, and may still be, a small cruise liner that does a booze cruise up and down the river. I just can't remember what it was called. But in any case, your best bet would probably be to find some sort of party like this to attend if you want to avoid the chaos in the district. Something else to check out a couple of weeks later on July 15th is the Sinatra Soiree put on by the Capital Club. Same kind of deal with open bar for around $85 or so. I attended one several years ago and it was a blast. It looks like this years will be held at the National Building Museum. I attended the Savor Craft Beer Festival there a couple of weeks ago and seeing the inside of that building is worth the price alone.

I went a few years ago (2 or 3), and it was a good time. It's usually put on by a group of guys that went to %++% and live in DC. Like someone said, there are a lot of people from the south there and its tough to do anything else there for less than $85. If its at the same bar from a few years ago, it can be tough to get a drink, but thats usually the case at any crowded party.
