But it would be great to have him back. Thompson just isn't cutting it and I'm not sure why anyone thinks he will. What's he done anywhere else? And before anyone starts the usual freshmen excuse, we're 40+ games in. If you haven't learned the strike zone yet, something's not clicking. It's not just freshmen, the few pitchers that returned from last year have regressed or gotten no better. Whitney and Houston have never been great but they were better as true freshmen than they've been since. Maybe I should give Thompson the benefit of the doubt with the situation inherited but if Pat Mac was interested, it'd be hard not to want him aboard.</p>

and thought about asking others opinions.

When looking at the stats of ERA and Errors and Fielding..and all that such.
some of the best years were under Pat Mac, he is a good pitching coach, great fundamental teacher it seems, and a good recruiter.

I dont think he would mesh with Johns style of coaching though.

and as nice as this idea of bringing Patty Mac back sounds, it isn't going to happen. It would be a great if it were possible, I don't see how Pat's ego would allow for him to come back after being head coach here to coach under a former player.
