Last time, I thought Eli didn't really earn the MVP. Truthfully, I thought nobody did. Nobody really stood out.
The biggest play was Tyre's catch. Eli made a decent move to avoid the sack. But face it, that was a desperation throw. It was Tyre that made a circus play there to keep the Giants moving.
Biggest story of the game? It was easily the Giants defense. Going into the game there was a lot of talk that the Pats had the best offense in the history of the NFL. But the Giants made them ordinary. That was the single biggest factor in the game. It was a team effort too. Not like one guy had 3 picks or 3-4 sacks.
So Eli got the MVP by default. He did little to earn it. Hell, half way into that season there was a lot of guessing at who next year's Giants QB was going to be. Eli was shaky the 1st half of the season, average in the 2nd half, then just managed his way through the playoffs.
But today he is no doubt an elite QB. Here's to hoping Kyle Love plants Eli's facemask in the turf.
