McCready reports that Patterson states that Mullen and staff have not been in contact with him yet. Someone needs to key Mullen in on him as he should be an easy grab if all the commitments Rosebowl mentioned last night take place in the next week or so.

I am sure Mullen will be contacting him and his Mama this week in his living room.

I just hope his Mama isn't like Scotty Hopson's.

he got canned from the sports radio station AND the newspaper down here a year or so ago. he was vehemently down on every SEC school except for, you guessed it, UM. loyal alumnus card doesnt fly when you're in a different state.
but then again, he may be doing a better job now that he's back in oxford.
hadnt heard that name in a while.
hearing that name to me was like when you throw water on someone who's drunk & passed out; all firery for a few seconds, then they just wind back down and pass back out.

he's probably more concerned right now with shoring up the guys who are already on our commitment list. We have a WR coming to State now that is better than Patterson anyway.

but he was hated by UM fans for constantly running us down. He did not speak well of us while at al.com

That said, he's great covering recruiting and ****. He actually verifies stuff, and writes like an actual journalist. It's amazing reading articles with everything spelled right and no stupid *** mistakes. Which says more about the other writers for internet sites than it does for him.

McReady ripped us a new one over firing Cutcliffe and was constantly ripping us a new one over Orgeron. He was so bad against Ole Miss that the Spirit contingent all hated him. Most of them thought he'd never write anything positive about us.

You sound a lot like the Gene's Pagers that complain about Kyle Veazey because he's an Ole Miss alum, nevermind the fact that he's probably the best all-around beat writer in the state.

round-ups in the mobile paper.
most of them seemed like it caused him pain to write anything positive.
look, i know writers like that are needed, but his stuff was pretty much force-fed (by that, i mean there wasnt anything else to get your hands on) his writing, and hear him 5 or 6 days a week on WNSP.</p>

was fired from WNSP for not fellating the Bama fanbase like they think they deserve. He took shots whenever he could. I never liked his attitude towards State, but he didn't exactly speak glowingly of UM either at the time. I don't think he likes or trusts the business of college football or the fans. (Funny how he is an even more integral part of it now).

I don't think he was fired from the Press-Register. He always made it clear he would move back to Oxford (and his family) in a heartbeat- I wouldn't be suprised if he saw the opportunity and did so.
