Second Biscuit: Including myself, the question concerning the eligiblity of MSU sophomore forward Kris Zeidaks
never came up at Tuesday's basketball media day so I did some asking on
Wednesday. MSU is expecting word back on his suspension and the length
of his suspension and it could be "any day now". Of course, the problem
is that Zeidaks played against pro competition during his days of
playing club ball in Euro leagues, which is normal for most
international players. The dumb thing in this whole ordeal is that the
NCAA changed its ruling on these situations this past summer. Under the
old rule, international players faced possible suspension time for
playing against pro competition but under the new rule now,
international players (those not paid) that just face pro competition
are not going to face any suspension or miss any games. But they are
treating Zeidaks like he falls under the old rule cause his time of
playing against pro competition came under the old NCAA rules.
Confusing? sorta but common sense doesn't go hand in hand with the NCAA
and this could easily be a common-sense situation if applied since
Zeidaks was never paid.
