Courts have really messed college athletics up. I am not against a kid getting paid for his NIL. But there needs to be some kind of rules. Kids are getting 4-5 mil out of HS and hitting the portal as soon as possible for another payday. Now when their eligibility runs out they are suing for more years. Baylor just recruited a professional BB player who gets 4 years of eligibility, which means little.

UGA had just renewed a kid's NIL, paid him and he transfers. UGA filed suit to get money back, he filed counter suit to keep, even though he didn't fulfill his obligation.

I understand coaches move every year, but coaches moving is a free move, the first school is owed some cash. Kis want the freedom to move, which is find. But those move should be free either. Values need to be set for each position, which is set by the tampering school"s offer. And a percentage of that should also be paid to the school he is leaving.

If Wilson would’ve done nothing at Missouri this discussion would’ve never been a thing though. Uga only got upset because of how good he ended up being. If any coach knows how to do the shady dealings it’s Kirby smart. Teams like that are just now realizing they can’t stockpile all the talent anymore and upset about it.

That’s why Saban would be nothing special in this era.

I don’t totally disagree with JUCO to NCAA eligibility extension.

Kind of makes sense. JUCO isn’t NCAA. A JUCO kid was essentially told by all of CFB that he wasn’t good enough or ready to play. So his eligibility clock shouldn’t start.

Most of the disorganization with everything portal and NIL related is cleaned up with clear rules that schools, conferences, players and coaches come to the table and agree to.

There needs to be a CBA and contracts in accordance with it.

Until then it’s going to be what it currently is. All we really know is that kids can make money and transfer. So, kids are making money and transferring.

I don’t know what the specific language of UGA’s agreement with the kid was but apparently it wasn’t concrete enough. That’s on UGA.

Huh? Everyone knew Wilson would be really good. Kid was a 5 star freak athlete that was destined for the league. They are mad that they handed him 30k and a few days later he left. 😂

The rule was always five years from your first day of college whether it was community college or D1.

He wanted to be a pass rusher and he wasn’t used like that at uga. He made better choice for him. Can’t be mad. Especially Kirby who is one of the most cutthroat recruiters there is. Uga just got mad they didn’t have a binding agreement and he dipped. Who cares. Kirby would cut a kid in a second for someone better. That’s his job but he would.

Back when I went to JUCO for 1 year it counted against my "NCAA" D1 eligibility. I had also spent a year prior to that at a tech/college as a student. THE MFr's counted that as 2 years and after it was all said and done I had 1 year of D1 eligibility left.. So.. when I sat down with Eddie Fogler of Vandy and he had all my grades and said he wanted me at Vandy you can imagine how excited I was... THEN I was straight up pissed when I couldn't go due to only having 1 year left. I had to let all the D1 schools know when I would get a phone call and offer. Now they hand out eligibility like Halloween candy....

I think an age rule and 2 transfer max is fair, but again folks are going to have to come to the table and collectively bargain. Until then it’s a lot of what we’ve been seeing.

A commitment he says they forced him to sign.
And that will be the question. Are those deals binding or not? If no, holy hell will break loose. If yes holy hell will break loose.

We really need a governing body right now…

This is the main issue to me, if you sign you sign. UGA definitely should get their investment back because none of that money was used to UGA Purposes. That would be like me swiping my badge to get paid at my job, leaving the building to go work at walmart instead. 😩

You pay a kid a astronomical fee at the end of the season to lock him in for next year and he transfers and takes your money with him to a new school... You gonna be happy about it or you going to be pissed you got robbed? I know which one I'd pick.

He got a months worth then left. The payments stopped when he left. He didn’t get the whole amount so what’s the problem?

It probably is setting a precedent. A $30k walkout once may not be a big deal, start stacking those and you will regret disregarding any. Enforce the contract not for this contract but to set a precedent for others.
Maybe uga didn’t hold up to a promise to him. Who knows. Coaches are super shady especially kirby

He countersued as well. My point was if he went to Mizzou and sucked they wouldn’t even care.

The contract was a 14-month agreement worth $500,000, which was set to be paid in monthly $30,000 increments. Georgia would have also paid Wilson two $40,000 retention bonuses at the end of the NCAA transfer portal windows. The exit clause states that Wilson would owe a lump-sum payment worth the total he would have received if he remained with the program through the duration of the contract.

Sounds like he doesn't want to follow the guidelines of the contract he signed. He has a buyout clause. He had bonuses of $80,000. He was owed $420, 000 minus the bonuses. He received $30,000. He still had $390,000 left on his monthly installments. That is what he owes UGA.

That sounds like a contract a normal agent would say no to. I see why Wilson is saying he was forced to sign it now if he wanted to stay at uga. That’s a scam.

He was NEVER forced to sign it. He could have not signed and gone into the portal Like He did anyway two weeks later.

He was a Jack LB. Who is the e best pass rusher ever at UK and where did he play. Oh the same position. The problem was in ‘24 he was 2nd string behind Chambliss who had 6.5 sacks. Wilson got offered more money and left, simple as that. He played Jack at Mizz also. The money and lawsuit is mostly BS of both sides.
