Pretty damning when somebody turns down your job — and millions — to stick with Jim Dolan’s 7th Avenue Circus.
I’m sure you’re talking about Kentucky. Payne won’t even get a look, in my opinion.
Don’t blame him, I’d rather be an assistant too. Make plenty of money and you don’t have the pressure/responsibility

What if he ends up at L1C4 after Powder splits following NCAA sanctions? Will you still cheer for him?
To be fair the Knicks are actually decent this year.
I wouldn't cheer for him but it wouldn't make me think any less of him, thats his alma mater
He will never be the UK coach unless he develops a great track record as a head coach. He is 54 and the clock is ticking.
I didn't think he'd leave the knicks after one year. If he told Peevy no, he's telling everyone no.

Payne will have a pro job sooner rather than later. He connects too well with players and has respect in the league already, hell just look at how much he is referenced when it comes to the Knicks this year. He’s just got that “it” factor. I’d love to see him back in college one day and take over for Cal once he’s done here. But he will be a head coach in the league soon. I don’t blame him.
Kentucky will never be someone's first head coaching job. If he is qualified to be the head coach of Kentucky, why is DePaul the only school to offer him the head coaching job?
