Wouldn’t have hurt my feelings if we got him instead.
Has had success wherever he’s been.

Love a coach that fights for his team, but Mitch doesn’t have the balls to there.

More than likely he would have brought some of those guys with him.

I’m not disappointed with Pope, but I would rather have more of a sure thing than a guy that’s never won a NCAA tournament game.
Go be a auburn fan god some of you fans are really unbelievable

You would've fired pearl...he's only been past the 2nd rd once in over a decade.

You guys always love whatever is hot at the moment tho

But, from what I saw, he did get them ready to play. They were so jacked up they were banking in three pointers early in the game. We could have hung in that game if we could have taken care of the ball. Many of our turnovers were

You can go root for pearl and auburn. If pearl did come and started with zero roster at the same point you ACTUALLY think we'd be in their position? More likely, you'd be complaining about how pearl isn't tough and xyz coach would have been much better for us.
No, I think he would have brought some with him.

Yeah, no kidding. He was just trying to put facts over mystique. Odd thing to get your panties in a bunch about.
People get so offended on this board if “ you don’t fall in line”.
College athletics as a whole is shady at best. Why single out Pearl?
i think that’s some people’s way of justifying a reason why we don’t have him.

Pearl has coached for 30 plus years and has one final four appearance. There is some reason for that. He coaches with emotion, his teams play with emotion. which sometimes turns into lack of discipline. When faced with adversity they sometimes come unglued. Good coach, but my guess is he never wins a title.

When did he start coaching basketball ???? People digging to defend Bruce Freaking Pearl. What an utter embarrassment. LOL!
I have heard conspiracy theories that another school may have played a hand in setting Dwayne Casey up in 1988. It was probably on this board.

Pearl was never going to be hired here, there were boosters and the school administrators going to insure that, so why cry over spilt milk, I support Pope and considering the circumstances think he has done a fine job.

The thing about Pearl is that he has won everywhere he’s been. The man knows how to coach.

You're living on another planet. 99% of anyone that attended UK would be disgusted to have that dirt ball anywhere near our program. Regardless, he's NEVER going to even sniff this job so you are throwing away your life opining. Feel free to do so.

Pearl would of crawled here. Listen to any of his interviews in the last five years and most of them have references on how much he would love the job. He couldn't of hinted at it any better.

Exactly.......and he hasn't even gotten a sniff. Shows you what our University thinks about the d-bag. Auburn is the top of the mountain for that POS. Tenneesee was higher on the mountain but he F'ed that up and got run out of town.

If you can name me one single coach that has tried to get another program in trouble, I'll stand down. You can't.

Pearl was never and will never be on UK's radar regardless of whether some would mow his yard for a win so they could thump their chests, lol.
If he gets hired here would that mean you STFU and stop bitching about every post? You said something about graduating from a university? Good deal.. But you need to graduate from anger management lol..

The other thing about Bruce Pearl is he will never, ever receive even the slightest consideration to be the basketball coach at the University of Kentucky. The administration, faculty, alumni, donors, etc. etc. all have way too much class to stoop that low.

Dude is a dbag. His pregame speech was about how they lost 1 game in conference and we lost 7. lol
A coach says what he needs to say to get his team ready to play. They came out firing.

Pearl has always been respectful of the program and the fans. I won't get salty at a coach who whips our arse.

If UK would have hired the sleeze ball Peral, I would have officially have been done with UK basketball for the remainder of my life. Go from Cal Sleeze ball to Pearl Sleeze ball. Never.

We got Pope, get on the bandwagon or stay on the side of the road casting as many stones as you can at Pope. Each loss, each call that you think was a bad call. Does not matter. If Pope fails after a few years to implement his style fully then fine, he can go. If that happens, UK will get another guy to try again. It will not be one of the sleeze ball kind of guys, guys that do things that cross the line at other places. If Pope fails and Stoops keeps holding UK for ransom of 9 mil a year then Mitch will be gone, Pope and Stoops will be gone and maybe Pope becomes an AD, that much energy and smarts, he can go get the next coaches. Pope is good for KENTUCKY Sports no matter what. He loves this place.

It's a dumbass speech, hype your guys up sure but a coach should never minimize a team so their team doesn't get complacent. That statement is basically saying we're better we should win, when a decent coach would be talking about how if we aren't our best this team could best us.
He has a better team and they won. He spoke the truth...then executed their plan to win. We got whipped.

Pearl has always coached as an underdog. Even now he coaches like his team is disrespected, underdog. If he ever got a blueblood job he would find out the difference in hunting and being hunted. Everyone plays the underdog to UK in the SEC even in our down years. They coach like this is our time to get a W.
Pearl would be like Billy Clyde here. He would not be able to handle this pressure. Oh he would be loved by the students because he has the mentality of a teenager (talking about on the personal level), he can coach. Not saying he cannot coach. He got in trouble everywhere he has been Wisc Green Bay, UT, Auburn and such.

I like Pope. You cannot dislike him. Good guy.
I certainly think he can coach, but we will see if he can successfully coach at this level.
What I don’t understand is, if he loves this place so much, how come we never heard about it until he was hired ?? Where has he been ?? There is no doubt he’s fond of this place and has great respect for it, but some of the incoming hoopla has to be coach speak, honeymoon hype, opportune timing and something like tripling his salary. He seized a great opportunity and knows it … and accepted the pressure that comes with it. He’s up for the challenge, albeit a tough one.

I hope he’s successful as hell, of course, but think he’s learning on the job here. To my view, his success will hinge on regularly getting high-level athletes via the portal, the kind he’s never coached before. We need players who can guard and are also hard-to-guard, not just shooters. Seeing first-hand how tough the conference is, he knows that now, I’m sure. Navigating the portal may well be the key to his success here, more so than recruiting elite high school talent. We’ll see … GO CATS !!!

My dislike of him has nothing to do with this game. Not sure why you're defending him like I'm salty we lost.
I'm salty we lost also. Can't stand how the team started the game. For the most part, we looked disinterested and disengaged.

I disagree with you on Pearl -the coach. He is always highly complimentary of the program and the fans. He is one hell of a motivator - maybe as good as Pitino. And, his teams always play hard. He flat took us apart today and made us look like a high school team.

Just saying it like it is.
