Penn State fan here. I just wanted to get Big Red's take on Purdue. Seems they played

you guys tough, though, I have to think it was a weird game for that to happen.
(I didn't get a chance to watch it, too busy pregaming for our game!)

Did you guys make some sloppy mistakes and let them hang around or did they play you guys hard than expected? I assume it is the first one.

Also, good luck the rest of the way. I am happy to have you guys in the conference and since we are both outsiders, we need to stick together. I hope by some miracle, we see you guys in the conference championship.

Our offensive line, which has had some injuries, played like crap. We were not able to establish a running game. Nor could we pass block, which diminished our passing game as well. So we could not block the front seven of one of the worst defenses in America. Not good.

But we are hoping our line returns to its better, early season form for this week against Wisconsin.

I live in eastern PA, but I am not a PSU fan. Still, thanks for doing us all a favor and beating OSU

You will have no problem beating Purdue unless the team is still focused on the OSU win.
Purdue manhandled our MASH unit OL and we couldn't move the ball against a bad defense. We won't be able to win against Wisconsin and OSU with similar OL performances.

My worry was a letdown after OSU, and then I saw they played you tight and I started to get worried. Our O-Line is still a work in progress but, it is playing the best it has in years.

Thanks for the feedback.

IMO you win easily if you are focused.

Every time we snapped the ball, Tommy or a RB had to make a move 4 yards behind the LOS to avoid getting killed. If you watched many replays and counted the number of Purdue guys in our kitchen after every snap, it's a miracle we got anything done at all on the offensive side of the ball It's really hard to fathom how we're going to deal with a talented team like Wisky. Good luck to you guys!

Purdue has lifetime system Spread QB, two good receivers, and a quality offensive line. They will try to throw the football 40 times. But if they can't hit on a big play, they won't score.

Their running game is dreadful.

Our O line is a mess right now. Very little depth & the injury bug has bitten hard. Purdue stacked the box most of the game and dared us to pass. When TA made the throws he had a lot of success but when the other Tommy showed up it wasn't pretty. If you can roll out & show some play action you should be fine.

In defense of the offensive line, they (NU) did a much better job towards the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th quarters, when it really mattered. I suspect that will be the case again this Saturday.

Excellent; this is a great summary of what top people have said. IMO. Purdue showed the blue print to cause us problems and we adjusted as best we could with our mash unit. No matter what happens; our team has a lot of character ( why your team could beat OSU ), and we are on the upswing. Wiscy plays two qb's / we can't , so we are streaky - beginning next tear an even more adaptive N will emerge. Our coaching is better and accelerating. You will beat Purdue; their players and interim coaches did a heck of a job putting it all on the table, you are too strong for them.

Your O-Line sounds like our Linebackers when we played Michigan. We lost our entire first and second string linebackers. That was rough. Got them back for OSU though!
