I guess some of the positives here include the fact that Kraft knows him and is comfortable that he will be a good fit, and most of his career has been spent in the northeast, so he is familiar with the challenges. That said, in 12 years at BC (not including COVID year), just three winning seasons.
Interesting that he would leave BC for PSU. He coached at BC for 13 years, attended BC, played minor league ball for the Red Sox, and played in the Cape Cod summer league. Seems like a Boston guy through and through. Hopefully he can recruit.

This is so true, this pissed me off for over a decade & half....

Scranton area, which has produced a ton of D1 and draftable talent the last decade or so. Probably more. And PSU frankly hasn’t even attempted to build a any sort of recruiting foundation here.

Back when I was there, hindelang only recruited from eastern PA. Nate bump was from towanda. Chris netwall and a couple others were Allentown guys. My issue with Joe was that he only gave the guys on the eastern half of the state and centre county a shot to play. A few of us western PA guys didn’t make the travel rosters because Joe stuck with guys from the Philly area where he was from.
With Pennsylvania having much more overall talent than given credit for, the new coach could recruit just his immediate 300 mile radius from school and be able to have a very competitive team

I thought the previous PSU baseball coach was supposed to be the guy to make PSU an east coast baseball powerhouse.

@Moogy what say you?

I dont follow ncaa baseball very much, but if you asked me how BC would do in the ACC I'd guess very poorly unless they had a dome to play in. Based upon him being 500 there I think he can do as well or better here at PSU.

He was 291-366 at BC. I sure hope he does better at PSU.

Gambino played for, and coached under, Pete Hughes (current K State HC and former HC at BC/VaTech/Oklahoma). I've known Pete well since he was a sophomore in high school (he's life long friends with my brother). Pete is super positive about Gambino and I believe him. Time will tell but this is a positive move for us and new AD should be congratulated.

Just tell me that his nickname is "Childish" and I'm all in.
