133 and hwt a concern for next year
I’m not that concerned. Nagao will be back. Whether or not he stays at 133 and battles Davis for the spot or moves up to 141 remains to be seen. Maybe Luke grows out of 125 and moves up? There are a lot of moving parts every year. It will work itself out. Cole is a true freshman wrestling against experienced, larger HWTs. I’ll give him a chance before I write him off for next year.

Cole should add good weight with another year in the program.

What a clutch takedown

Thanks for posting the video.
The only explanation I have for Angel over-turning his own call is that the replay used a totally different camera and is on the opposite side of the one in this video.
Sealy elevates him fully off the mat. He plants him on his but/hips with clear control of the right leg with his left hand/arm and is wrapped around the waste with his right arm. You can't see it in this video, but in the replay they showed on BTN+, you can also see the right hand/arm of the Illinois wrestler is posted to prevent going to his back. Anyone who has wrestled will tell you that a "wizzer" from your butt/hip belly up is worthless. And I'm being extremely gracious even referring to what he had as a wizzer.
It took him a good 2 seconds to belly down at which point he finally had a legitimate wizzer but Sealy had totally covered his legs.
Angel didn't hesitate at all on the initial call.
This was a TD. It's a take down all day long every day of the year.
Wouldn't be surprised the view from the opposite side looked very different and couldn't see several of the elements I'm pointing out.

Always waiting for the Textbook Tom review to get the perspective of the ref.

Seeley won't remember not getting the takedown. He will remember the message he is going to get about taking down when the staff wants him to be neutral. He will be Carter/Levi/Mitchell punching bag this week.
Think he will remember that takedown and working to undo the whizzer by moving his feet to the left instead of the right. The guy would have given up the whizzer so as not to get pinned. I think the reversal call was correct. Basically it was argued that it was a roll through.

Interesting take which makes sense. I've seen lots of comments stating it was 3 it was a bad call to overturn, but two collegiate refs made the call so they had their reasons. It's too petty for me to just say Angel sucks, the call sucks.......etc.

Yea. If it was our guy we would be arguing for the whizzer.

Honest question. Angel calls the 3 with 13 seconds left. When he wipes it away after review, I thought they had to go back and pick up the match from that point in time. Instead, Angel wipes away the takedown and the match is over.

Am I wrong? The point being, if Joe knows he doesn't have 3 yet, he continues to work for it. But if he thinks he already has it, why work to improve?
