It would be interesting to know what Epperly did wrong to get the call tonight.........

Normally a backup but you get the #2 guy to close things out, don't let it happen again

Janzer just head slapped constantly the entire 1st period with that right hand. He took one shot the entire match.

Rutgers weighed in McDermott and Epperly. Byers mentioned before the match that McDermott was battling injuries, so with the dual out of reach for Rutgers, it probably made sense to save McDermott from aggravating his injuries.

No wrestler or coach interviewed after the dual by Byers.

That's a wrap from me.

Alex F wrestling style reminds me of a young DT. Young man could win it all.
Yes he could! But I dunno, Alex reminds me more so of Quentin Wright (one of my all time favorites!). His stance, his upper body activity, his profile, his build, legs, using the entire mat, fearless, like, 'so what if I get scored on, I'm gonna ago get some more'... either way, I love rooting for this team!

not sure where to (or why I'm posting this) but I used to think that the Brands brothers got their shirts from Kmart. I now believe they get them from their sock drawer

Just donā€™t have the throwā€™s Quentin did. Alex scoreā€™s a lot more points tho. Thatā€™s why I say a young DT. His leg attackā€™s are outstanding when he gets his ANGLES. Thatā€™s what Cael said the entire team needs to work on is ANGLES. Thatā€™s how you beat the better guys. Canā€™t shoot straight onā€¦.

At big tens and Nationals thatā€™s a pin. Should BLADES were clearly down. Ref wanted the shoulderā€™s down.

you're showing a lack of knowledge with that statement. Refs don't care about the shoulders being down IF the scapula is fully on the mat. In the video in question, Van Ness probably would have gotten the fall if he had more time. Initially he had Tony White in some trouble. However, White's right shoulder was off the mat. So Van Ness adjusted, and in so doing for a bit his own arm was preventing White's right shoulder from being flattened against the mat. During that sequence, White's scapula may have been flat on the mat. However, Van Ness's arm would have been in the way of the ref being able to see that, and you can't assume something -- you call what you can verify. After Van Ness moved his arm so that it was not preventing White's right shoulder from hitting the mat, White raised both of his shoulders. That enabled the ref to see the scapula. At the time of the buzzer it was really close, but you can see in the video that the right edge of the scapula was not on the mat, and hence it was not a pin.

I don't think it will be this year. 3 national Champs in weight class. Top 4 would be a great accomplishment to build on.

How many is the record at PSU ? Total wins. You said Cael has 189 now.

The coach with the most victories at PSU is Charlie Speidel. He coached 34 seasons ('27-'42; '47-'64), and had a 191-56-13 record. CS now has sole possession of 2nd place with 189 wins. Thus, he can tie Charlie with 2 wins and take the lead in victories with 3 wins.

Interestingly, CS does not have the highest career win % of PSU wrestling coaches, and it's pretty much impossible for him to ever get it. Heading into tonight's dual, the career win % leaders were:

1. J.H. Shollenberger (coached the 1914 season) - 1.000% (5-0 record)
2. Ralph Leonard (coached the 1925 & 1926 seasons) - 0.929% (13-1 record)
3. Cael Sanderson (coach 2010 - ??) - 0.913% (188-16-2 record)

Only got to watch Facundo and CStar live tonight but both looked aggressive and showed off the gas tank. Excellent wins. Looking forward to Sunday!
