That’s a total non sequitur and an insult to critics of Flo’s algorithm. The critics are saying that Cael’s plan is just fine (and that Flo is stupid). Why would you take their position and pretend it’s only yours and then criticize them for not being you? Reading comprehension problem? Overall greasiness? 🤷‍♂️
Where did I pretend anything 🤷. The way rankings are done aren't the problem at all. When freshman wrestle quality opponents they will move up accordingly. I'm not knocking the rankings process at all. Can't believe people actually care about rankings at all actually. They only matter once a year and they only make up 10% of the seeding process and no media companies are involved. This year will be way better having a few coaches per weight and not 14

No, misfortune is coming from central PA to Tempe to witness the first loss in 60 matches. At least I got to experience Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, and the Grand Canyon.

157- #8 PJ Duke vs. #5 Daniel Cardenas

Period 1:
Big match. Here we go! Cardenas shoots, PJ counters, but Cardenas fights PJ off. PJ reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Cardenas with a half shot. PJ shoots, but can't finish. More hand fighting & tying up. PJ reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Cardenas gets a stall warning. PJ tries to trip Cardenas, but misses the leg. Collar ties & hand fighting to end the period. 0-0

Period 2:
PJ takes down. He gets to his feet & almost gets away, but Cardenas brings him back to the mat. PJ gets back to his feet, but they go out of bounds. PJ is still down. PJ works to his feet & turns, but Cardenas brings him back down. Out of bounds & restart. PJ works to a quadpod. Cardenas drives him out of bounds, restart. PJ is still down. PJ works to a quadpod. He turns, but Cardenas gets a bodylock & pushes PJ out. Cardenas gets a 2nd stall warning, point PJ, 1-0. Stanford is challenging the call. Call confirmed, score stays 1-0 PJ. Back to action PJ is still down. PJ works to his feet. Cardenas goes over 1-min riding time. PJ gets to his feet & gets the escape, 2-0. PJ reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Collar ties & hand fighting again. Cardenas shoots a high-C, but PJ fights him off & counters. Cardenas fights off PJ's counter & time expires. 2-0 PJ, Cardenas +1:18 RT

That was an impressive win for a true freshman against a highly ranked Redshirt Junior, and is just the type of match you may need to win at the NCAA tournament. Those kinds of matches are going to pay great dividends for PJ as the season progresses. PJ kept a strong pace for all seven minutes, fought through all the positions and showed great defense throughout the match. PJ also showed he has the ability to get to Cardenas' legs. On two occasions he got to a single, but wasn't able to convert after trying to switch to a double. Having to battle for the escape after a hard ride by Cardenas is also great experience for a freshman. I am sure as the season progresses PJ's ability on bottom will improve.

Agreed and it wasn't because Cardenas was overhyped or because he had a bad day, I thought Cardenas looked GREAT, just think that PJ looked a little bit better. As you said, that match will help him a lot moving forward and it was a joy to watch.

Cardenas is very tough. He has such great fast twitch explosive hips. PJ is just a dog!

Taking 12/15 rankings and tweeted point changes at face value, it seems next Flo rankings should have:

Barr at #1
Duke at #4
Blaze at #5 or 6

I believe the bracket is scored as follows:

Seed Total Flo Points (Chalk)
1: 20.0
2: 16.0
3: 13.5
4: 12.5
5: 10.0
6: 9.0
7: 6.5
8: 5.5
9–12: 2
13-16: 1.5
32: 1.0
17–24, 30: 0.5
25-29, 31, 33: 0.0

Not that other teams fans are very bright, but how do you wrestle in the Big10 conference and somehow not wrestle against the elite?
I love the word stupid, it comes in handy often.
The question those 'Not very bright fans' have to be asked is: Which elite teams have not been part of the win streak(s). The current one includes Arizona State, Oregon State, North Carolina, Cornell, Oklahoma. The last one included OkSt 2 times and Va Tech so.....do you have to do it all the time when you wrestle Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska several times a year?

I'm sure this is coming from OkST fans who might need a reminder that PSU has a 4-2 record vs them, 3 of the last 4, and winning the last 2.

Penn State has wrestled Iowa 4x and tanOSU 6x since the streak began.

They have 101 team points vs 41 for Iowa, and 165 team points vs 65 for tanOSU.

Maybe Iowa and tanOSU should just try harder to beat Penn State instead of… whatever it is they are doing.

Our smallest margin of victory during this streak was 20-16 against UPenn. We forfeited the HWT match in that dual.

From what I can tell, 2 duals came down to the last match - in 2022 Cornell was down 18-16 going into HWT (we won 21-16), also in '22 Nebraska was down 18-13 going into HWT (the final score was 21-13)

Note: I'm assuming that HWT was the last match in those duals ... correct me if I'm wrong.

Against Penn, definitely ended at heavyweight. Half the team had the flu for that match. I remember Nick Lee building up a nice lead in his bout and then hanging on for dear life in the third.

Your memory is correct. They're all on Track.

With the benefit of hindsight, our streak might have been in serious jeopardy if Grey hadn't wussed out. He sent Arujau at 125 to face Jakob Campbell (0-4 in 2022) instead of bumping him up to 133 to face RBY. Vito pinned Campbell in under a minute. The backup 125 was Greg D, who would've beaten Campbell, possibly by bonus. RBY then majored LaJoie to make the score 6-4 Cornell. Had Arujau beaten RBY, then Cornell would've saved at least 4 pts, plausibly more.

We were vulnerable too. Hildebrandt and Berge were both a month away from joining the lineup. If there were ever a time to go for it, that was the time. Koll probably would've taken his shot.

Hey, but at least #FamilyNotFactory
