Cael just likes to make sure he keeps the team out front in the Crystal Ball rankings. It doesn't hurt that his lead recruiter makes them.If Cael actually cared like the people on the forums he would schedule tougher teams before Xmas . But I think his plan works just fine![]()
Tell that to the fine folks over on the intermat forums. Quite a few jackals saying penn state win streak doesn’t count because Cael routinely ducks all the top competitionIf Cael actually cared like the people on the forums he would schedule tougher teams before Xmas . 6 > 5Question for those who know better than I: Mitch has made a decision to wrestle more on top and look for turns. To me, that seems like a tough change in philosophy at any time, let alone being a returning champ. Is this as unusual as I think?
Ludicrous!!
They do like to be uninformed. I can probably guess who the fine folks are too.Tell that to the fine folks over on the intermat forums. Quite a few jackals saying penn state win streak doesn’t count because Cael routinely ducks all the top competition![]()
And the 37-51 OK St team

We're doomed.They are slipping.
Last year the beat Binghamton and Little Rock 96-0 in their first two Collegiate Duals duals.
It's was Pyles and the other guy was Cliff Fretwell he doesn't work for Flo he does stuff for Frank and Journeyman. I worked that event while it was in FL and called some duals with Cliff he makes it fun and is very knowledgeableI gotta give a shout out to the Flo announcers last night. Their technical info about specific moves really helped with the PBP. I don't know all the names for each shot or move, but if someone calls them out, I can add them into the PBP. Pyles & the other guy did a fantastic job on the mic last night! You can thank them for a lot of the technical info I put into the PBP.
Cliff has always been better than all the flo guys at play by play . He’s very knowledgeable but also describes the technical stuff in the simple waysIt's was Pyles and the other guy was Cliff Fretwell he doesn't work for Flo he does stuff for Frank and Journeyman. I think the Max number of wrestlers is 6 for not using a date. I doubt Barr goes , he could always do PA tournament if needed. Thinking Asher, henkle , and other young red shirts.Next up …The SCUFFLE. Anybody know which of our guys are going? Barr might need to fill up his numbers for seeding (or not). An Ono sighting would delight. Any regulars on this board going?
Don't forget powerhouses Finlay and Denver.Yeah, it’s a darn shame that we weren’t wrestling the likes of Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma, and Southwestern Oklahoma, etc.. sometimes twice a season.
Different eras, but given the strength of the B1G, the new record is legit no matter who is on our OoC schedule.
The Blaze v Knox match was crazy yesterday. Total domination over a very high level wrestler culminating in a fall. Knox couldn’t even ride him at all. Blaze is the best wrestler in the country at 133. This is why we make fun of the Flo rankings. Everyone already knew how good Blaze was, but they refuse to show it in the rankings.
So, your pbp is just a copy of the closed captioning, not impressed.I gotta give a shout out to the Flo announcers last night. Their technical info about specific moves really helped with the PBP. Cliff is fantastic on the callsCliff has always been better than all the flo guys at play by play . He’s very knowledgeable but also describes the technical stuff in the simple ways
Not that other teams fans are very bright, but how do you wrestle in the Big10 conference and somehow not wrestle against the elite?Tell that to the fine folks over on the intermat forums. At least one poster seems smug with any emojis used.and that’s what I don’t like about the emoji options in response on this board; no ‘smug’ looks.
Isn’t Cliff “gator bacon”It's was Pyles and the other guy was Cliff Fretwell he doesn't work for Flo he does stuff for Frank and Journeyman. I worked that event while it was in FL and called some duals with Cliff he makes it fun and is very knowledgeable
Well they are ranked #3.They are slipping.
Last year the beat Binghamton and Little Rock 96-0 in their first two Collegiate Duals duals.
yea the kid said Colo wrestling was way better than Pa,now he knows better!didnt they say he was a 2 or 3 time champ from colo?"when I was in the navy we were talking wrestling and this kid told us he was 2 time champ from colo at 150 I told him I was from Pa and no time champ but I would give him a go I was about 130 I eas]ily beat him by about 5 points he ]said I got lucky so I beat him again by about 8 points!he never spoke ] to me again!
I wasn't readng the PBP just read what he said!OPINIONS VARY LOL**when reading this post, picture Michael Corleone talking to Fredo after their meeting with Moe Greene in the Godfather II movie**
Tullfan, your an older poster and I love you but don't you EVER criticize a pbp from @SlipperyPete again....
Based on what Coach Cody told a group of us at the PSWC pre match social before the Lehigh match, the plan is to send ten wrestlers to the Scuffle.Next up …The SCUFFLE. Anybody know which of our guys are going? Barr might need to fill up his numbers for seeding (or not). An Ono sighting would delight. Any regulars on this board going?
And I had the misfortune of driving from San Diego to see us lose to Arizona State for my one and only in-person Penn State dual meet : (Fwiw:
Penn State wrestling has won
143 of its last 145 dual meets, which falls within the range of the last 135 matches.
As of December 20, 2025, Penn State holds the NCAA Division I record for most consecutive dual meet wins with an active streak of 77 matches. Their last loss was on January 31, 2020, against Iowa.
Over their last 135 dual matches, the team's performance has been overwhelmingly dominant, including their current record-breaking win streak and a previous 60-match win streak which ended in November 2019. This means they have only lost two dual meets during that general timeframe.
Bummer, but in a reverse Uno way you're sort of blessed. If I were you I'd buy a lottery ticket this week, Powerball is 1.6 billion. And I had the misfortune of driving from San Diego to see us lose to Arizona State for my one and only in-person Penn State dual meet : (
Pyles is a great moderator type. They could use a bigger personality type on FRL. Shoot even offer Cliff Fretwell, that would make things more interesting.I know you guys like to rag on Pyles, but I always like listening to him on the mike during big matches. I think he has been great for the sport in general. I do wish Flo radio live still had Askren because he made it funny.
No, misfortune is coming from central PA to Tempe to witness the first loss in 60 matches. At least I got to experience Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, and the Grand Canyon. And I had the misfortune of driving from San Diego to see us lose to Arizona State for my one and only in-person Penn State dual meet : (
I'm in the other camp, I feel they get too technical for the non serious wrestling fan. They also use regional names for moves and holds.I gotta give a shout out to the Flo announcers last night. How many non serious wrestling fans do you figure were watching on a wrestling streaming site?I'm in the other camp, I feel they get too technical for the non serious wrestling fan. They also use regional names for moves and holds.
That’s a total non sequitur and an insult to critics of Flo’s algorithm. The critics are saying that Cael’s plan is just fine (and that Flo’s algorithm is stupid). Why would you take their position and pretend it’s only yours and then criticize them for not being you? Reading comprehension problem? Overall greasiness? If Cael actually cared like the people on the forums he would schedule tougher teams before Xmas . But I think his plan works just fine![]()
We can’t beat Iowa 60-0 if we keep leaving points on the mat like this. LOL.We left some team points out there. The coaches better fix this or they will be in trouble.
