Are we expecting Brooks to go at 92kg at world team trials next month? Only thing I can think of, but not sure it’s confirmed any where…

Some awesome match potential for our guys.
Luke/Deshazer
Blaze/Fix rematch
Beau/Mendez rematch
Mitch/Monday rematch

Dake/Zahid meeting in the middle at 86 will be fun.
Rocco/Keckeisen could give us a good preview of where Rocco is at going into the summer.

I think the Mirasolas might run the u23 table which is exciting too.

A bit lost- why isn’t Brooks wrestling in the US Open? The US Open doesn’t feed into the World team?

Final X is the competition that determines the World Team. There are 2 competitions that feed into Final X: US Open and World Team Trials.

Some weights have a guy already auto bid to Final X. For these weights, the US Open is the only tournament that qualifies for Final X.

Brooks is wrestling at 92, which does NOT have an auto bid to final X, so the winners of both the US Open and the WTT get a spot. This means he can choose which one to wrestle in, and seems he’s choosing WTT instead of US Open.

Mesenbrink coming up in a bit on Mat 1. Believe he is the only Penn State connection with a mat assignment at the moment.

Ha, or not. The website suggested there was 10 minutes until his match. That was when I posted two minutes ago. Ninety seconds later, I got an email alert. Mitchell Mesenbrink wins his opener over DeShon Gallegos of SWWC by technical fall, 10-0, in a tidy 16 seconds. He's onto the Round of 16 at 74 kilograms.
