I have lost count of the number of games that have finished within one score of each other so far. Many by three points or less. If I had to guess, I'd say a record number of games so far have finished where it's anyone's game in the final minutes. All I can say is if you haven't enjoyed these matchups for the most part... well I question how much you truly like to watch football.

But it's not about in-person attendance, is it? It sounds like you watched it on TV (I did too), which is why they exist. As long as the ratings are decent and ESPN can continue to sell ad time during the broadcasts, these games aren't going anywhere. They know that desperate college football fans like us are a captured market this time of year.

They also know that schools will often accept a bid to a lower-tier bowl, even if the expenses to attend often exceeds the payout.
