.......but also had so many doubts about the Vid Vaccine. This isn't a personal statement for or against either but that seems like an interesting contradiction when I see all the people on social media pimping peptides and JUST GUESSING how they may have felt about the vaccine (or any vaccines, nowadays).

I get it, free to choose, but I like having some level of governmental regulation authorities in place. Think I'll stay away from the ones not FDA approved and that don't need a prescription.

Same as steroids really, and even drugs. Using too much of this type shlt isn't good.

Yea, I have fluctuated on this (not peptides, but supplements/drugs/interventions in general). I like Taleb's argument that your body is complex and relatively finely tuned, and any overloading of one vitamin or supplement or whatever is likely to have just as many negative side effects as benefits, and the obvious gain is from removing negatives (refined sugar, processed foods, lack fo exercise, etc.) and we really haven't increased life expectancy by extending people's natural lives, but by reducing early deaths from accidents, cancer, disease, etc.

But that seems to be obviously contradictory. Yes, we increased life expectancy generally like he said, but we did it with medical interventions and while it's harder to extend natural life, that doesn't seem to argue for not continually trying things until we find something that works. Part of it is probably just getting older and really hoping that there are some undiscovered magic bullets that will significantly extend life, or probalby more importantly, extend the time that you are healthy, even if the lifespan is similar.

ETA: Also, it really is amazing how good marketers are at health related stuff and how accurately the algorithm predicts what you're susceptible to. Really easy to go down a rabbit hole with whatever craziness and it seem perfectly reasonable if you aren't actively looking for credible resources.

Cmon that’s so boring. We wanna stuff our faces 24/7 with processed food.***

For real though it’s that simple. Cook some chicken and veggies on the grill. Add in rice and potatoes. Boom you can maintain or lose weight if you don’t obscenely overeat.

I’m willing to bet most people’s issues with the vaccine was about forcing it on people.

actually I know that’s what most people
Had issue with and they were right. Forcing people to take it was wrong.

I don't know much about them but have a buddy out in cali that is on TRT and peptides says he feels like he's in his 20s again. I know TRT is pretty solid science but not sure about the peptides.

I’ve taken BPC-157 and TB-500 on and off for about a year after a small meniscus tear. At one point I could barely walk up stairs without significant pain. I started with injections around the knee and later switched to stomach. Since then, my knee has felt dramatically better.
My cardiologist has also noted that my inflammation markers are down, which was a nice bonus. I’ve used NAD as well after hearing Gary Brecka talk about it, and I’ve personally felt positive effects there too.

Everyone can have their own opinions on peptides, but from my experience, they’ve made a noticeable difference.

Some of the same people that think vaccines and the .5 ml of medicine that they contain is a conspiracy also advocated drinking straight bleach in the early days of the pandemic. Think about that....

A couple years ago when I was dealing with a herniated disc my doctor suggested them to me. I didn’t know what in the world a peptide was, and I couldn’t get a straight answer from the place that dispensed them, so I didn’t try them. I practice jiu jitsu these days, and guys are often dealing with this and that, and may of them swear by them.

Myself. I've been on doctor prescribed TRT for 10 years, and have been giving myself shots for about 8 years. There is a ton a good information out there, you just have to dig through. Suggest starting with Gary Brecka, he is brilliant and has a lot of great guest that are well versed in this arena.

In my opinion, there is a reason big Pharma is going after these peptide sellers and compound pharmacies....they work and could / will significantly cut into their profits.

This is a long reply but I'm passionate about the subject.

I've been researching peptides for over 3 years now and personally I think many of the peptides are not necessarily useless or bunk science, but so many of them are only going to help in certain situations (where deficiencies exist usually) if they help at all.

However, there are 3 categories I personally have experienced significant sucess with:

1) BPC-157 and TB-4/TB-500 for healing/regeneration(injection only, there is almost no oral availability)
I fell down some stairs and had major soft tissue injuries in my shoulder and even a minor avulsion fracture of the humerus where the muscles tore a little of the bone off. This injury often requires fairly major surgery. Initially I couldn't raise my arm enough to put on a t-shirt and was in a lot of pain but within a week of starting BPC/TB4 (I started the day I suffered the injury) I was relatively pain free unless attempting to extend the arm above my head or behind my back. By a month into recovery it was clear I wasn't going to have to have surgery and I was able to begin light weight lifting to begin recovery. By 3 months in I was back to 100% range of motion and was back to being able to lift 90% as much as weight with the arm as I had been doing before the injury. It's impossible to know how much of the recovery was the peptides and how much was age and fitness level but I will forever swear by the combo. Wolverine Stack is an apt name. Pharma is worried about this, as someone mentioned above.

2) Tesamorelin and Ipamorelin (injection) for visceral fat reduction
Tesamorelin is actually FDA approved to reduce visceral fat in HIV patients who tend to gain a lot of it due to their medications. Yeah..you're thinking HIV patients, sheesh...but that means it is a rarity in the peptide world as it has actually gone through the full FDA approval processes. Anyway, my wife and I did a hell of a lot of research on it and she tried it out. The results were impressive. It melts midsection/visceral/trunk fat. She dropped 4 pant sizes during a 12 week cycle while losing almost no weight overall (also strength training and exercising consistently at the time while on GLP1s to not lose muscle mass)

3) GLP1s...you only need to have watched super bowl ads this year to see how successful this drug class is..I have no doubt it has added years to my life as it has been a significant tool in my journey from someone on the verge of diabetes with high blood pressure to super fit 40 year old.

They are all tools to be used wisely and in moderation. And *ALWAYS* with frequent bloodwork being done both to measure progress on improvement but also to make sure nothing is getting out of whack. Check out 'Fitomics' subscription service to get frequent bloodwork done at your local labcorp. Fast and easy and surprisingly cheap.

Peptides and a Covid vaccine are in no way comparable. Peptides are naturally occurring amino acids that have been singled out and discovered to be greatly beneficial in many areas like weight loss, muscle growth and injury recovery, immune system support, anti-aging skin health, etc. Absolutely ridiculous to compare it to an unproven and untested “vaccine”. Peptides have existed for as long as the human body has.

I’ve tried to read up on peptides, but it seems pretty mixed, as far as results. I do plan on asking my PCP about his opinion on branch chain amino acids next month, though. The risk with them seems pretty low, but it also seems like it could be something that could help with muscle recovery and growth at the gym.

I’m not trying to become a body builder or powerlifter, but I would like to get where I’m in good enough shape to do 40ish pushups without taking a break and about 10 pull ups. I’ve only been back at it for about a year after not doing it for many years, but I’ve lost 30ish lbs and about 5” in my waist, along with getting a good bit stronger.

Yeah, a lot of the insane lies and misinformation on social media can seem reasonable if you don’t approach the content with skepticism and dig into the claims.

It seems like a lot of people do 'research' by watching short form videos of their favorite health and nutrition influencers.

We have more immediate access to knowledge than ever before, but watching a video by an influencer is easier.

Slipped and hurt my right knee at the end of August 2025. Going up and down stairs sucked for a while. It’s better now, probably 80%. I’m pretty sure I damaged the meniscus in some way, but I didn’t go to the doctor bc I could still get around.

Do you not think that the inflammatory markers are down due to the natural healing of your body and you just happen to take protein at that time??

That’s a fair question, but I don’t think so since nothing else in my routine really changed — my diet and lifestyle have been consistent. I’ve been seeing my cardiologist twice a year for the past six years, and my markers were always pretty similar until that period.

That said, I want to be clear I’m not a doctor and I’m not in the medical field, nor am I promoting anything. I’m just sharing my personal experience. I did my own research on the peptides and sources, and for me personally, they seemed to make a noticeable difference.

Not saying you shouldn’t listen to your PCP, but understand that many physicians have limited exposure to peptides. Similar to hormone replacement, it’s not heavily emphasized in medical school and often gets minimal coverage during residency, if any.

I believe peptides need to be injected for maximum absorption rather than orally. I wanted to try it but it was crazy expensive per month cost. Someone who knows more could chime in and verify this.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist on the peptide subject, but there are some pretty reasonable explanations why many aren’t being promoted by big pharma. They work and big pharma doesn’t control them.

I have a rule of thumb for supplements that might actually work: are these supplements banned by the Olympics, pro cycling, pro running, pro football, etc.? If so, then they work to some degree. BPC-157, for example, is banned by nearly all sports governing bodies. I know numerous people who have done the BPC-157 stack with TB 500 and all of them had significant results ranging from things like injury recovery, endurance, and strength. I don’t think the oral version works well, though.

I haven’t tried it yet, but the next time I have a significant injury, it’s likely to happen. I have been really tempted to do 6 weeks of it just for the increase in endurance for running, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. It’s pretty expensive if that’s the primary motivation.
