Per BDJ, Romero Osby is transferring to Georgia Tech.

However, Osby is just not a super star type player and never will be. He will probably be a solid contributor and get around 9 pts and 7 rbs a game if he starts at GT. His loss at MSU hurts for sure but Romero had some gaping holes in his game.
With a kid and all, I would love to be wrong about him. One thing is for certain with Romero, his attitude won't be a problem.

Not everybody will turn out to be a star but 10 points and 7 boards a game is a pretty darn good contribution and unfortunately it won't be at State.

We've NEVER had a star at MSU, much like we've never had a QB. But our fans love to give Stans the benefit of the doubt continually as he continues to run off freshmen, sophomores and juniors at an alarming pace. Just because the Delks, Houstons, Sharpes, and hansbroughs of the world don't go off to another school and lead the NCAA in scoring doesn't mean they were a bust. That's experience that is supposedly being groomed at MSU (usually on the bench buried in the hockey substitution patterns) that never pays off in upperclassmen leadership and experience.

MSU is not having postseason success because we can't sustain a roster from year to year and build depth and experience. We aren't Kentucky and losing one and dones to the NBA draft. We are becoming a farm team for Louisville, UAB, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, and Troy.

Give the kid a chance to play and in the right system, I see Romero being a solid starter for G Tech. I wish him all the best and don't blame him at all. Good Luck Romero...

He did not make an impact at MSU is due to the system and the coaches.
Ro grew up a huge MSU fan his whole life and was being recruited by all the big names in the NCAA before giving us his signature.

He will be successful and make a difference wherever he ends up.

This one is on the coaches.. he gave them all the chances they deserved. I wish nothing but the best for him..

Playing time isn't the only reason he's leaving. He's going to a stronger basketball program, so he apparently feels he can receive some coaching and develop his game into something better than what our current group has (or has not) done.

Wow, from one team that constantly underachieves to another team that constantly underachieves.
That program has been odd to say the least. They get elite player after elite player after elite player, and they consistently do JACK with em.

The GT system didnt fit Alade Aminu either...and he seems a lot like Osby in terms of skills/ability. Aminu fit in great with an NBA high pick and roll, yet didnt do **** at GT.

And Hewitt seems to be a hell of a recruiter that doesnt do as much with his talent as you should think.

GT is a stronger program than MSU? Eh...id say they have both wallowed in the same mediocrity over the last half decade or more. GT had the 1 run back in the early 2000s and has since brought in a ton of NBA talent and done nothing with it.
Hewitt was almost out of a job for awhile due to their constant underachieving.

GT is losing their 2 elite post players this year, so in our terrible current condition, MSU isnt much if at all worse.

That cat had the most talent in the ACC this year and couldn't do **** with it. He recruits and constantly underachieves. ACC fans know him as the worst coach in the league.
