i don't think this has anything to do with Mullen. The guy was a shaky commit from the minute he supposedly committed. I would assume the door is still open and he realizes he just pulled the trigger too soon, but guess we'll wait for more info.
As painful as it is to say, MSU is destined to do most of our damage with developed 2* and 3* players. A few occasional 4*+, but not enough to take next step unless the stars align just right.
It is what it is.

See this is what gets me when everybody gets so caught up in stars. To a degree they matter, Top 10 or so, but outside of that its not as big of a difference as people make it out to be. On 247 right now we are 40 with 18 recruits. 3 4 stars and 15 3 stars. Penn State is 20 with 19 commits. 5 4 stars and 14 3 stars. The difference seems great in the rankings but you are talking about basically one 4 star difference if one of our high 3 stars gets graded a little higher.
Sure we can get some 3* players like Dak that prove their worth, but it's worrisome when highly regarded recruits that our staff identifies, targets, and recruits, get away.
To expand on your theory I will say the more 4&5* you have in a class at a particular school seems to exponentially increase risk of busts. Just something about all those prima donnas so close together makes them underperform unless you have a drill Sargent(Saban) to keep them in line. Would much sooner have one or two so they can stand out and push everyone else b
Isn't this the guy whose coach and parents said that he wasn't committed despite his saying he was? I never would have listed him as a commitment under the circumstances.
Holy ****, that is some EXCELLENT spin. Yeah, let's not sign many 4 or 5 star players because they MIGHT be trouble makers. Good God radio, that is the most ridiculous thing every posted on a message board in the history of ever.
How about we cut the ******** and just admit that Dan is not that great of a recruiter. We need to figure out where the issue is, and fix it.
