but UM's defense could be the key ......TT's offensive line looked like worn out, fat tubs of goo doring the OU game.

They give up almost 250 ypg compared to 220 by UM. But, Oklahoma's D-line was able to disrupt Harrell all night long. I can think of a few good guys on the UM D-line that would salivate over the same opportunity.

I don't see any downside to the matchup. People remember which bowl game was reached, not necessarily the outcome. Going in to the Cotton against Texas Tech, no one would believe UM could win the game. With that thinking, they have nothing to do but impress. I think it's a favorable situation to be in considering the matchup.

because oklahoma puts up big numbers early. teams have to try to throw downfield to get back in the game.

the key to stopping tech was the sooner DL, and um's DL would have to have a great game. i'm not sure um would have the depth to play hard for four quarters like the sooners.

I've said all along that most of the Big 12's gaudy offensive stats were just the product of bad defenses. UM's defensive front would dominate TT just like OU's did. The difference is, UM's DBs aren't nearly as good as OU's are and UM's offense isn't as good as OU's is. My early prediction, TT - 31, UM - 21.

UM rotated 10 guys on the DL AT Florida and AT LSU and they were able to supply the pressure to disrupt the passing game and win both of those games against highly talented OLs. They should be able to supply the aforementioned depth to "stop Tech."

is going to have a great offense- Texas, Oklahoma (both not likely, but possible if there's an upset), Texas Tech (most likely), or Oklahoma State (possible).

Those teams would be tough for anyone with a good defense.

i haven't watched um enough this year to know. you make a good point about florida and lsu.

too, texas probably has more quality depth than anyone in the country on the DL. and they struggled with tech's offense. either way, winning the line of scrimmage on both sides will be the key to beating tech. and um certainly has some talent up front.
