the statement said that the final ruiling on Cam's eligibility would come right before the end of an investigation into rather they took money from Auburn.

AKA.. He's eligible right now, but we're not done looking.

It's pretty obvious that any evidence we provided was merely evidence that Cecil solicited us and not Auburn. They obviously gave a big 17 you to the rules that should have ruled him ineligible when they acknowledged that as fact. Unless there's a paper trail showing payment to Cecil and somebody puts it out in the open for all the world to see - then the NCAA might act on it because they will be forced to.

17 the NCAA. 17 Auburn. 17 the sporting world that's going to sit idly by and watch the NCAA let this happen...

That's exactly what I have been trying to say. The ncaa had to make some kind of decision before the big game. This is a PR move and if they do not indeed have all available info and evidence then it is the right choice for now. Justice will be served later once they are 100percent certain. I hope auburn gets what they deserve, nothing more nothing less. If I have to wait a while for that then so be it. Now they do look like a joke by pretending to think Cam didn't know but this is their only choice right now.

The hypocrisy throughout the entire statement makes the NCAA look like an inept organization. I don't see how they could think that was a smart thing to release knowing they might have to make another judgment at a later date. That's not a release you make to settle the stormy seas, that's a release you make when it's obvious you don't give a 17.

for them to say anything. We've been at status quo for the last 4 to 5 weeks so what's really different about this week just because its the SEC championship game that requires them to make any statement. It was just as important whether he played against Bama as it is now against SC.

This is all but over! If it wasnt over, why would the NCAA need to make a statement now? He was already eligible to play by being ruled "not ineligible" by the NCAA! If there was more to the case then they could just simply continue to not say anything or release any statements and just continue the investigation as it is going now.....The way Im seeing all of this is that they have information, and they have now made a decision based on that information and thats it!

Each school is cleared, Cecil is in the wrong (but that doesnt afect anybody but him, rogers, and bell), and now all of this will just go away.

Yeah except for Bama had a better chance to beat Auburn than USC does. Everybody is assuming they win the game and go to title game. I don't have a doubt in my mind that they paid Cam and he knew all about it. I don't havew a doubt that there is proof somewhere. What does scare me is that they choose not to do anything about it.

As we all learned this week Cam HAS to be made available to the media after the SEC Championship game or the University risks fines. Being declared eligible will potentially take the "CamGate" questions out of the lime light and protect him like Auburn has been trying to do the past few week by not allowing the media to address him. In other words more questions about the game he just played and less about his gold digging father.

Among other obvious reason.. Heisman, BCS Bowl, etc.

All this decision does is change Cams coments after the game from " I have no comment on that matter" to "I have been cleared by the NCAA and am looking froward to continuing my college career with the NC game or Bowl game"...

Not a whole lot of difference in each of these two statements, and the reporters will continue to prod him for answers after he makes one of the two generic responses!

I'm not saying its a PR move for cam I'm saying its one for the NCAA. I'm sure the NCAA is taking some flak from all this like: when is the NCAA gonna make a ruling, or are they just gonna sit here. They had to do something before the big game since it looks like auburn may be there. Its easy for them right now to say he is eligible based on what they know now. And yes I know they still didn't go by their own rules along with the SECOND rules, but they seem to do this pretty frequent ala Masoli and ole miss. The ncaa can't condemn him totally yet based on the solicitation by his father to MSU, if they do they would look like Auburn Haters. This is their save face move for the time being. Remember the FBI is not investigating characters involved with this for no reason.
