Exactly what did coach do tonite to lose this game? He did about all he could from a coaching stand point. Every team has down games and we had a down game where we(they) didn't hit open 3's like they have been doing. Dee was sloppy for all but crunch time. Deville was awful and rode the pine in the 2nd half like he should have.(a good coaching decision I might add). Sid got his 3rd foul, acted like a baby afterwards and Stans sat him so not to get a cheap 4th. Then when he got his 4th, he took him out again. He substituted Sid in for offense and Wendell in for defense at the end. Had Dee, Hood, and Jalen handling the ball at the end for when FAU fouled. What exactly did Stans do to lose this game. Put it out there please!!

I dont care about suspensions, injuries or any of that ****. They didnt have a player over 6 8. Our bigs should have scored 25 apiece.

Smith was a trainwreck when he got near the ball except for the neat little snowbird job.

Rick has apparantly settled a deal with the NCAA that he can break 10 rules in recruiting for every time out he keeps in his pocket.

You can debate the no time outs decisions all you want. I personally think that concept is way overrated. I've seen plenty of runs that just continued right through the time out and I've seen plenty getreversed without a time out (including their first run tonight). And if you call time out every time the fans are calling for one, you're going to be out of time outs at the end of a game when you might need them. As for his comment, he most likely was pointing at the players when he said it. Even if he wasn't, you can't seriously believe he somehow doesn't think this team isn't about "we."

It's clear our coach did not have the team ready to play tonight.. We should have pounded the ball inside tonight.
We had no offensive game plan vs an undersized FAU team. Jarvis almost pulled it off.
We were in the infamous stand and shoot offense tonight. Our defense was horrible, just horrible.

Sounds to me like a coach saying they were able to take care of business... probably in spite of our coach's inability to call a timely time-out... for instance: calling one when we had momentum or not calling one when they went on an 11-0 run.

but I wish our coach knew how to criticize our players a little bit. He praises the other team, no matter how ****** they are. A well prepared team, with our without two of our starters, should have won that game by 30. I don't even care that much about the timeouts, even though it was terrible. I just want to see our team take the floor and look offensively prepared for once. And when we don't, it would be nice if our coach would get pissed off every once in a while. But he doesn't, because he doesn't know anything he could have done differently, so he just pumps sunshine up everyone's ***.

They played like crap and they won. Maybe they won beccause he saw them playing like crap and got them into the right position and maybe he is trying to be humble and give the credit to the team and not take the credit him self.

you try to let the team play thru it. I didn't have a problem with how coach handled their runs last nite. When FAU took the lead, he called one and we came out and took the lead afterwards. We got a W on an overall awful performance as a team against a mediocre opponent. In late February this will just be a W. We are 10-1 with solid wins against some pretty damn good teams. If we beat Detroit and then the team in Jackson, we will have a better record than I can ever remember going into SEC play. We get Bryant back and let Moultrie rest his knees for another game. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play in Jackson either. ***** and complain all you want. We are 10-1 and I'm happy with that.

I wonder how many time outs Lon Kruger called during our 48-9 run back in 1995.FAU's first runturned around without a time out and by the time the TV time out came, a 10 point lead had been cut to 8. Who in the hell were we going to pound it inside to? Sidney spent most of the game on the bench in foul trouble and is an offensive foul waiting to happen when he gets it down low. Moultrie didn't play. Lewis can do nothing but make open dunks and put backs.That leaves....let's see.... Roquez Johnson? Taylor Luczak?

Just because you have a couple guys taller than the other team does not mean they are going to become Akeem Olajuwon and get you 25 points.

We have won 9 games in a row. One of these type of games was bound to happen. EVERY team has them but good teams win them even when they play horrible.

I really doubt Coach K lets teams go on 10 point runs without calling a timeout, especially when you are playing horrible defense and making turnovers.
Coach K also can draw up an in-bounds play to score and actually uses the clipboard during timeouts.
Coach K would have pounded the ball inside to the RSS and Lewis, and let Dee post up his shorter opponent.

I am glad we won last night, don't get me wrong, but I feel like Stans almost let that one get away b/c he failed to call timeouts and let the other team hang around too long.

I pointed this out earlier that these teams like FAU come in here and play lights out... and they did. We weren't "up" for this game, and that's obvious, but we scored when we needed to. My problem came that we tried the entire second half to shoot over them and not take the ball inside with the speed we have. Then, we let 2 and 25 come back and almost beat us. 25 had 4 fouls for the remaining 4 minutes and we did nothing to take the ball at him and force him to foul. I'm glad we won, because that game could have easily been an upset, but I hope more than anything it was a wakeup call because Detroit will be much like FAU in terms of play... scrappy, quick guards that can give you a hard time.

Yeah,I did. It had nothing to do with being prepared. Bost and Moultrie are catalysts. They create. Without them, we don't have an offense. You can't be prepared without an offense. We don't run anything. We are a GD Division 1 college basketball program and we don't have an offense. We just ball. That's cool andall if everyone is healthy. But if Bost or Moultrie are out, we look like last night.What does Stansbury teach? Nothing. That's the only reason we get these recruits. They come to play for him so they can do what they want. It's sad. Then he disguises suspensions for injuries. Then he let's his **** eater kids get in the players' business. WTF is wrong with this man. How is he a division one coach?

All that being said, I am excited as **** about this team and will cheerfor every play. I just wish they had some direction sometimes.

I am at a loss for words lars. What you are saying is that Stansbury gets zero credit for beating WV, A&M, and Arizona but gets all the blame for nearly losing to FAU.

I will grant you that the last two years our offense has been an abomination but this year has been a complete 180. We are passing better and getting alot more movement. Last night was an aberration so get off of the ledge.

he was the winning coach. But the fact remains that he still does not know how to prepare our team offensively. The reason we beat those teams is because you can win without having an offense when you have Bost and Moultrie and transition basketball. When one of them is out, you don't have a real offense, as you could see last night. The reason for this is because we do not run an offense. Not a real one. If we did, we would still be productive when one of them is out. But we aren't, unless it's transition or just straight up ballin buckets. We can't consistently score points in a half court offense if one of them is out and that's because of terrible coaching. Don't tell me our offense has done a 180. Nothing has changed with our offense except players.

So if you take the best players off of a team like Butler or Vandy do you think their offenses will just keep chugging along? If you can't see the change in our offense lately then you have not been watching. We get very few baskets in transition most games.

to whom? RS played 20 minutes; Wendell is just not one you pound it inside to with a lot of expected success; so I do not get that point. I do agree our defense was horrible. Taylor lit us up...well he lit up Dee to be honest. Dee had zero fouls....a sign he was playing no D. That said, I luv D and think he is the best PG in the SEC; some nights are not your best at both ends. He basically took the game over toward the end when we needed someone to score. I was just glad to get the W. Rodney H played 40 minutes....wow. I wonder how long he can continue doing that. His stamina level will be tested as the season wears on. Bryant's return will help. Hopefully, Deville will be able to deliver some quality minutes in future games.
