LaMichael James had this to say:

LaMichael James, who went to college at Oregon, had this to say in a radio interview yesterday: “I would not go to two or three colleges, just because they were Adidas. Weirdest thing ever. I wouldn’t go to Arkansas and I wouldn’t go to Mississippi State because they were Adidas schools. No three stripes for me. All Nike.”

I like our Adidas stuff, but we really need to get back to the swoosh. Not because of this *******, but because I think a lot of kids think this way.

Emphasis on STUDENT. They are choosing the school that is the best fit for them academically as well as athletically. I know so because the NCAA tells me. LaMichael James is clearly an outlier.**

James visited us on the eve of NSD after we made a late push, and we were in his final 2-3 schools. So this was, in some way, "a" deciding factor for him... As ridiculous as that may be.

This was my point exactly... Now, like I said... I have really really liked our adidas stuff but some kids just want to wear Nike.

1) Recruits are that shallow, so this could be true.

2) That man is a walking Nike advertisement, so he's supposed to say stuff like this.

Did LJ visit? Yes
Did LJ just say that he wouldn't play for a school wearing the three stripes? Yes
Was the fact that teams wear Nike vise Adidas a deciding factor? Yes

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

I'll go ahead and call him out.

Lamichael James graduated in 2008. Our adidas uniforms debuted in April 2009 for Mullen's first season (Fall 2009)- one year after James decided against MSU. In other words, WE HAD NO ADIDAS CONTRACT AT THE TIME OF HIS DECISION.

Now, hadJames said "I wouldn't choose Mississippi State because of their ugly-*** Russell crap" or "their crooked-hat wearing purported coach", then he would be 100% accurate and credible.

Quite an aggressive post to be inaccurate. I was a student athlete at the time & while our uniforms were Russell the rest of the team gear was mostly Adidas. Shoes shorts shirts. Most windsuits were Russell and some shorts were Russell but the majority of team "swag" would've been adidas.

I remembered that we had adidas cleats under Croom (who can forget those...), but I guess I didn't know about the adidas swag.

And, in response to Wizard, I see it used on broadcasts sometimes, too. Never fails to make me mutter some choice expletives.

Newscenter 11 Sports w/Lindsey Hall (Meridian) had a blurb about MSU baseball last night and used this logo:

Meridian is the WORST sports news station I have ever seen. All they seem to cover is Meridian High and the county schools. Nothing else. The Saints get a mention every now and then. I heard Lindsey Hall call Tyler Russell "Tyler Wilson" once.

Absolutely. By the time Newscenter 11 starts using our current logo we'll already have moved on to another one. And Lindsey Hall sucks, that idiot has never said a positive thing in his life about Mississippi State.

Lindsay (yes I spelled it that way intentionally) Hall is a total tool. Dude is rarely sober and is soarrogant he thinks he is "famous" enough to be a playa with the ladies.

Yes, he has a drinking problem from what I understand, and the whole thing about him calling Russell Wilson is even worse because Russell is a Meridian native.

grab a Clarion Ledger, and then watch Lindsey Hall.....he is too damn lazy to rewrite his own copy....it is verbatim from the CL.......he used to be pretty good in his younger days, but laziness has settled in and now he reads the paper aloud to us. And the double whammy being in the Meridian TV market is that the CBS/NBC affiliate is too cheap to have a newscast to WTOK is our only local news option.

On a different note, that Emily Gagnon seems to give us our due. Or at least that weeklong series she did on Fletcher Cox........go figure.
