Per Yancy, Ole Miss gives up on Johnson...again.

We have learned that one of Robert's family members simply has put their foot down and is not going to let Robert take the Ole Miss visit. This family member told Ole Miss that they were the ones that turned MSU in for the recruits going to the "Pony" and Ole Miss said thanks but no thanks. Ole Miss did not turn MSY in for the alleged strip club visit. The kids turned them in when they plastered it all over Facebook for the nation to see.

Robert Johnson is a class act, and one I will always be a fan of, and both parties are going to split on good terms because of their admiration for each other.

**I asked if Ole Miss was going to be "extra" careful the next two weekends since MSU supposedly will have a couple of spies watching everything that is going on during the Ole Miss official visits over the next two weekends.

I was told that they will continue to have the same game plan as they have since they arrived. They have nothing to hide and nothing is going to change. There is a big difference between sending your recruits to a strip club than them being in a restaurant/bar that allows 18 year olds in Oxford or Starkville .

but I would think if I bought a Sports Illustrated and quoted here on the message board, they couldn't stop me.

Goddamn. I've wanted to post some Rivals and Scout stuff here before but haven't because they made such a big deal about it on Nafoom a couple years ago, and you don't see cut and paste premium content here, at least not too often.

Of course, I am not a copyright attorney, but I also don't know if his information is (or can be) copyrighted.

And Sports Illustrated probably could stop you if you are posting pictures, etc., which are copyrighted or the content of their writers, which is probably copyrighted. For instance, if you hauled off and posted the whole 2010 Swimsuit Issue on here and there was any buzz about it whatsoever outside of our small little world, you would probably get a letter from SI. Since you aren't charging for it, they would probably just ask you to remove it.

Edited to add: their articles and interviews likely can be copyrighted, but I am not sure about copyrighting "tidbits"

Alan Garner: It's not illegal, it's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane.
Phil Wenneck: I'm pretty sure that's illegal too.
Alan Garner: Yeah, maybe after 9/11, where everybody got so sensitive. Thanks a lot, Bin Laden.

******** he writes? Didn't he admit in another post that he makes up "disinformation" intentionally? Why would ANYONE, even OM fans, believe this ******** about Robert Johnson then? Isn't this really his way of crawfishing because he swore RJ was visiting OM when he really wasn't going to all along?

Edited to add more comments....

if you cut and pasted an entire si article, that is copyright infringement. if you posted just enough to comment on, that is fair use, but even falling under that exception is a matter of degree. from a copyright standpoint, it doesn't matter if it is premium or nonpremium. the big thing to keep in mind is that it is not the information that is subject to copyright, but rather the expression of the information. so you can put what he says in your own words and be free and clear. in short, i would advise against cutting and pasting entire articles, blog posts, etc., though you are ok communicating the information they provide. but then again, if you take legal advice from an anonymous board poster named hotdogface, you're probably too stupid to figure out how to cut and paste an article anyway or communicate in any coherent manner.</p>

Every January, right about now, I run out of words to describe Yancy. That time has come again now after reading this.

for a long time now... Copyright and plagurism go out the window as long as what you publish, build, create is AT LEAST 10% DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL. That leaves it up to the poster, copier... whomever to decide when they have met the 10%. Smarties always go 15+% and add some good stuff to it to make it better!

I've always considered you one of the better nafoom posters, but copyright infringement? Would you also like a patent for persuading recruits to come to your school?

in his premium content. Obviously all these scout guys are huge fans of their respective schools, but damn, try to show a little professionalism when you are in fact..... a professional (i can't believe i just typed that in regards to Yancy).

There is a big difference between sending your recruits to a strip club than them being in a restaurant/bar that allows 18 year olds in Oxford or Starkville .

Any idiot with a brain knows that Mullen and crew did not "send" those recruits to the strip club. Not with all of the eyes and ears just salivating behind a keyboard ready expose such a events. The only way i can rationalize ANY coach doing such would be if they were so dumb and impulsive that their thought processes defied logical reasoning.

I know it is a moot point because its still a strip club but the Pony is 18+, so its not against the law as he is insinuating.

My favorite part was basically how he painted it like Johnson didn't want to go to MSU, but his family was making him, even going so far as to predict that Hughes takes another job, and Jay leaves with him, and then Johnson's stuck on a team he didn't want without his buddy. Then he's forced to transfer to a Juco to have a chance to go where he really wants...

Basically he plays out a huge hypothetical that's based on a big assumption in the first place. That kind of stuff, I don't really care to read.

Is it too much to say that Ole Miss had a shot, but for whatever reason Johnson liked MSU a little more? It doesn't really matter if family, friends, or a position coach is the reason he liked it more.

....I can't think of any time when Rosebowl has been that over the top and ridiculous. When ya'll beat us for a kid, he usually just puts it like that. So according to Yancy, Johnson only committed to State because he was "down the board" and Ole Miss really didn't want him. He has a press conference and everything. Since then, he's been calling your staff for two weeks trying to set up a visit. The staff has listened, trying to figure out if the interest was genuine. They decided it was and came down to visit his school. He set up a visit for this weekend, according to Yancy. All the while, Rosebowl is saying he is not interested and will not visit. Then, the day before he is supposed to arrive, we get the story that his relative is mad at Ole Miss over the incident and he won't be visiting, even though he wanted to.

Now, come on. Basically, we beat you for his signature and Ole Miss wants him and has not quit recruiting him, but he ain't budging. Isn't that 10,000 times more likely?

I do think it's possible that Johnson considered taking a visit to us just to have the free weekend, and maybe we gauged his interest and determined it wasn't genuine. That's possible, but I doubt it was anything like Yancy painted it. Yancy's story is definitely entertaining though. As I said, the best part is when he goes into the hypothetical of Johnson having to transfer due to not really being happy at MSU.

That's the type of BS you have to wade through though.

And he's an awful writer. He just feeds the masses what they want to hear.

He does actually put out some good information sometimes too. You just have to know how to wade through all the other crap to get the real information.

Both have, in the last week, predicted Sanders, Thompson, and Robinson to their respective school. Yancy has predicted Coleman to OM as well.

Yancy did this earlier in the week.

Rosebowl did it in his chat yesterday.

Its going to be fun to watch.

...then i haven't seen it. Thompson and Robinson will be interesting.

I don't think anybody in the State camp really expects Sanders.
