what did ya'll think about that? He's suppose to be our best pass rusher and we have him dropping into coverage, what the hell.

I think that kind of speaks for itself. I'm all for being creative on defense but we had virtually no pass rush the entire game. It didn't do very well against Memphis either - 2 sacks. Pernell McPhee needs to be getting after the QB as much as possible, as you said, "He's our best pass rusher." I mean come on, if you're going to drop a D-lineman into coverage it needs to be McCardell. He had trouble tackling and putting on weight, not catching. We moved him to receiver for a reason, hopefully that's because he has an upside there, other than being a good blocker. Maybe he could drop back and catch a few ints.<div>
</div><div>Not really. But in all seriousness, we N-E-E-D McPhee rushing the passer every play.</div>

LB blitzes, DE backs off the line into zone coverage. Confuses the OL. Its like blitzing without blitzing. You get the blitzing LB that the offense has to contend with. But then the DE in zone coverage is better than having nobody in coverage right there.

Maybe a lot better than nothing if the QB were to instinctively throw a quick inside slant to that area.

The zone blitz is just another tool in Mad Manny's toolbox.
