He was going to maybe play 3 minutes a game here. Don’t know why so many of you think he won’t play much more at Ole Miss than he would have here.
Ten years after playing at Ole Miss he will be referred to as "hey bud, can you hold that door?" When he attends Ole Miss events. At UK, he would be a legend.

On second thought, I can understand better thinking it would be better going to a positive guy like Beard, because Beard has been positive about Perry, and I'd rather be with someone that has a positive outlook and positive direction for myself.

Wether he gets PT or not, I don't think necessarily means that much. And by going to another SEC school, he isn't taking a step back, say than if he went with another mid major team. So there's that too.

Hope it's a good fit for him. It would be great to see him develop and come back.

We naturally lean on money as a motivator, and it probably is to an extent, but I do have an honest question in regards to NIL and guys on his level:

Just how much money can he reasonably fetch? Reason I’m asking is that there has to be a cap on what he’s worth and I wouldn’t think the floor and ceiling for his NIL value are only so far apart (no offense to him, of course). I can’t see a school paying hundreds of thousands, so we would be talking in the tens of thousands difference, perhaps?

Jones hinted at 7 figures.

Ehh, most fans wouldn't even recognize Polson, Hawkins or Derek Willis, (I honestly just had to look his name up) if they passed them on the street. Polson even played on a title team. The days of local athletes being legends has long passed aside from being a Davis/Wall or Cousins type and they weren'tin state players. Aside from Reed being a legacy, he would be in a similar boat. After the Arkansas shirt, he may end up that way as well.
That may be true with younger generations.

That is not true of my generation.

I wish him well. I hope he kills it in every game except when he plays against UK.

He wasn't going to be a contributor for UK this year, so maybe this is best for everyone.

I may misunderstand NIL but I don’t see a Kentucky born kid making more money at another SEC school compared to UK. Especially when that guy isn’t that good to begin with. He can’t guard a lamp post and was unplayable at the end of the season. Pope tried to play him but after the Bama SEC debacle, he finally let it go.

Without major improvement, if he’s playing major minutes next year and making good NIL money Ole Miss won’t be that good next year

I could see Perry getting a 3yr NIL package offer of say 1.5m
Jones hinted at 7 figures.
I would be SHOCKED if he makes more than $250,000 per year for the next 3 years at Ole Miss.

The kid left because he wanted assurances about playing time for the next 3 seasons. At UK, Coach Pope is going to bring in not only top level HS players, but also the best transfers too. So Travis KNEW he was going to be a bit player in the program for the entire time he played here.

Coach Beard made it clear that he liked Travis when he went out of his way to mention him at the SEC Tournament even though Ole Miss wasn’t playing UK. That told me that Perry’s people were contacting coaches to tell them he was going to transfer. I’m sort of surprised that Beard was that high on him. Pedulla is as a similar player to him, but was much more physical and skilled with the ball.

He won't play much more there. It has to be about more money because that's the only thing that makes sense.
Something tells me Travis may play alot there . Miss had a guard there that played a similar role that Travis will make no bones about Travis will see the floor alot

If you have to go to school somewhere ole miss isn’t a bad choice in many respects. I assume he accepts he’s not going to be in the nba so maybe his focus is on the overall college experience. I don’t recall beard being a deep into the bench coach but I also don’t factually know that either.

Beard is obviously high on him, but I’m honestly not sure why on the outside looking in. Beard’s teams usually thrive on aggressive, disruptive defense and that’s not Perry’s game at all. Going to be interesting to see how he tries to fit all the pieces together since noted matador AJ Storr was one of his other major portal signings.

If he can outscore his opposite position, it can cover some of his defense deficiencies.

I do not see what he has gained. He knows his situation better than I do.
I am not surprised at all honestly. Recruited out of High School and Beard obviously really likes him. He watched him play in the SEC a lot I’m sure so he must think he can have a roll. I doubt he will start or even be a first guard off the bench but who knows. I hope he plays well unless it’s against us. I’d love to have him back his senior year at least. Especially if he become a solid contributor at the SEC level. He showed flashes, but he just needs to prove he can defend.
