Some changes I would highly consider making right now. Basically, I'm trying to get our 11 best players on the field.

DE- Fletcher Cox
DT- Josh Boyd
DT- P J Jones
DE- Kaleb Eulls

LB- Charles Mitchell
LB- Cameron Lawrence

Dog- Wade Bonner/Dee Arrington/Matt Wells
SS- Nikoe Whitley
FS- Darius Slay
CB- Corey Broomfield
CB- Jonathan Banks

Comments, concerns, questions?

I think if you play small at LB you have to make up with some size on the DL. My only concern is your hurting the DT rotation and PJ's conditioning probably isn't great only having a couple of months under Balis.

Not being able to finish in recruiting DE's and LB's is killing us. And I don't understand why the current players are notdeveloping. Guys like McCardell for instance. All we heard was his blazing speed off the edge but he's been a non factor for 3years.Maye isn't doing anything and quite frankly, other than depth help, I was never as jazzed as some were about him. His stats at Clemson weren't anything special other than having 3 years experience. Ferguson has never been consistent, makes a great play or two then vanishes for 2 or 3 games. For all the hell that he takes from posters here, Cam Lawrence is the only LB who seems to have a nose for the football. I agree that Slay needs a chance to get on the field. I'd hope we'd lean towards some kind of solution that gets that extra strong safety or dog safety type player on the field and allows our secondary to cheat against the run a little more.</p>

i agree that those are the best 11 defensive players that we have. however, there is not one 'true' linebacker on the field. mitchell hasn't ever played and lawrence has been there two years. i think team would run at will against them. but i do agree there needs to be changes. maybe play bohanna and hopefully hughes comes back. inexperienced but they are both talented. also, what has happened to harrison-gay? he played a decent amount as a true freshman and i haven't seen him yet. another thing, i don't think he should have played but i didn't see robert elliot once today either.

I'm sorry, but it's all with the scheme. We simply aren't putting enough pressure on the QB. We suck against the run and our tackles get broken like expired condoms. Look at the progression of the game: we made no, NO adjustments at halftime. They come out and run the same out-routs with Dyer, and we watch him run for 10, 20, and 6; meanwhile, Chris Wilson is on the sideline shitting his pants. Losing Manny hurt.

there are a lot of freshmen and sophomores in there. The reason there aren't more seniors- you'll have to ask Sly about that.

We've taken some chances on some guys with big frames that "could be" dominant but more often than not, they are just guys that look like power forwards that can't play football.

there is no true LB on my defense. Really, it's basically a 4-2-5. I'm sacrificing size at LB, but I'm hopefully making up for it with a really big d-line. I'm also sacrificing size for tackling ability.

Certainly not ideal.

Our DBs are the best unit on D. They can't cover for 4 or 5 seconds though. That's what they're being asked to do.

I'd start playing Cox outside some.

DE - Cox, Ferguson
DT - Boyd, Devin Jones

OLB - Cam, Wells
MLB - Wilson
