On one hand, I'm happy that Rhule got rid of some underperforming coaches. However, I feel like these same kids aren't going to make the leap necessary to make us competitive across our schedule in 9 months time.
Getting replacement personnel, particularly on the lines, is the only way this works short term. Otherwise, we're looking at an identical record next year or worse. Your thoughts?

I expect them to hit the portal hard and hopefully the new coaches can bring some quality players with them. That being said its hard to know where many of the current players ceilings are at considering who they were being coached by. Add in the youth and there are even more unknowns. Just switching from the 335 to 425 on d should help the guys up front. Davis and Williams are clearly built to be DE in a 4 man front and RVP and Moore are not nose guards but with another 4 man DT next to them maybe they look better.

It’s the Jimmy and the Joes. We don’t have them today and not sure we ever will to compete at a high level. Top 40 and peak years get to Top 20 maybe top 15 once a decade.

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty accurate description of Iowa’s football program. But enjoy it while you can because it will likely get worse when Ferentz retires.

Wrong... and here's 2 examples... 1) Our very own Special Teams Coordinator and 2) Cig... Both came into Hot Garbage and with proper coaching and decision making took the same players and made them special...

As I said in another post, At this stage I'll gladly pay top dollar for coaches considered in the top 3% as that's how this team is going to correct itself...

Cig did not just take the same players and make them special. He brought in better players, about 50 new players vs 2023. Now, if you ask me what we need - better players or better coaches? The answer is yes. It's both.
